Regional Pre-Service Teachers The said activity, with

Based Action Research”,
was attended by pre-service
teachers from different school
colleges in Region 12. The TEIs
participants were from Colegio de
Kidapawan(CDK), Central Mindanao
Colleges(CMC), Notre Dame of
Kidapawan College(NDKC),
Southern Baptist College (SBC), and
Cotabato Foundation College of
Science and Technology(CFCST)-
Arakan, Antipas and Katipunan
Extension Campus.

The program started at 7:30 am
with a prayer, followed by the singing
of the National Anthem and PAFTE
Hym through audio-visual
presentation. After that were the
words of welcome given by Dr.
Elizabeth S. Espadero, Chairperson of
PAFTE-Region 12, followed by the
introduction of the resource speaker.

During the discussion of the
resource speaker, Dr. Rhodelia M.
Raniola, she discussed insights about
understanding action research, its
processes, principles, formats and
topics on timely issues and concerns
on Education, that can help pre-
service in their coming teaching
practice. Dr. Raniola started and
ended her discussion with a statement
saying that a teacher must “work
smarter, not harder”. According to
her, action research enables teachers
to reflect on their practice to improve
it, become more autonomous in
professional judgement, develop a
more energetic and dynamic
environment for teaching and
learning, articulate and build their
craft knowledge, and recognize and
appreciate their own expertise. She
also encouraged every participant to
appreciate the importance of action
research, as this is an effective tool
for resolving issues in the classroom.
 Right after the resource
speaker’s discussion, the participants
were given a chance to ask questions,
clarifications and tips from the
resource speaker as part of the
program, the open forum, where all
the participant’s questions were
answered right away by Dr. Raniola.

In the afternoon workshop,
participants were given a task to
create their own action-research plan
per school and present their works to
Dr. Raniola. The participants actively
participated in the workshop.
Cooperation where seen in every
group as they create their own action-
research plan, where everyone created
a great output according to the
resource speaker. Mr. Khent Brian P.
Tortula was choosen to present the
action-research proposal of Colegio
de Kidapawan(CDK).
The program was ended with a
closing remarks from Dr. Analiza B.
Valencia, Chairperson of Education
Committee PAFTE 12 along with a
closing prayer led by Dr. Cynthia S.
Asuncion, President of Central
Mindanao Colleges.They come up
with the problem ”Students having a
hard time understanding the process
of solving division in Mathematical
Operation”. The said proposal focused
on the use of realia to improve the
solving skills of Grade IV students in
solving a division problem.
The learnings gained by the pre-
service teachers from the event may
help them prepare themselves to
become quality teachers equipped
with pedagogical practices that will
serve to meet the increasing demands
associated with the teaching
profession.
