READING - POSTER
In the Star Wars movie, a very common sentence is: "May the force be with you". Here are
several examples:: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9iYT3lhmd4&t
However, when you google this sentence online, you can probably find this poster:
1. What is the link between the original sentence and the poster?
VOCABULARY
On the poster, they wrote: "May the 4th", which is the date we celebrate Star Wars.
We write the date in English in different ways. The most common way in British English is to
write the day of the month first, then the month (starting with a capital letter) and then the
year:
In written American English, the month of the date comes before the day and year. For
example, Independence Day in the USA is on July 4th each year. In the year 2000, the date
was 4/7/2000 in British English. In American English, this is written 7/4/2000.
How to say the date: It’s the first of June. (1st June) OR It’s June the first. (June 1st)
2. Which way did they write the date on the poster? British English or American English?
3. Are these dates in American or British English? Use AM or BR.
