Calibrate – to make something accurate

What is Calibration?
- Is the process of configuring an instrument to provide a result for a sample within an
acceptable range.
- It eliminates or minimize factors that cause inaccurate movements.
- It verifies the readings of a measurement instrument to ensure they fall within
predetermined specifications.
- Improves the accuracy of a measurement device and ensures consistent measurements in
testing applications.
When will you do Calibration Test?
- Before every polygraph examination.
- But there are those that calibrate the polygraph instrument monthly, quarterly, annually,
or whenever the equipment suffers damage that might affect its reliability.
How do Calibration Test done?
- It is done by using a calibrated reference standard of known uncertainty to compare with
a device under test.
- Professionals records the readings from the device under test and compares them to the
readings from the reference source.
