board that is wholly owned by a

a 150-year history of providing
international exams.

The first Cambridge international


exams were taken in Trinidad in
1864 by six candidates.

 Cambridge IGCSE  (The International


General Certificate of Secondary
Education) is the world’s most popular
international qualification for 14 to 16 year
olds.
 It encourages learner-centered and
enquiry-based approaches to learning.
 It develops learners' skills in creative
thinking, enquiry and problem solving,
giving learners excellent preparation for
the next stage in their education.
 It lays a strong foundation for students
who wish to continue with the IB
Curriculum and Cambridge International
AS and A Levels at the pre-university

Selection of Subjects

Students must study seven subjects as part of


the IGCSE Programme at DYPIS.
All students study the following mandatory subjects:

 English as First Language

 Second Language- Hindi / Foreign Language - French

 Mathematics/Additional Mathematics
Selection of Subjects

 Students who score a C or below in Mathematics in Grade 8


are advised not to take up Additional Mathematics in Grade
9.
 Students opting for Additional Mathematics shall write a
proficiency test after two weeks of teaching of the syllabus.
 Students who have opted for Hindi / French in Grade 8 are
required to continue with the same language in Grade 9 as
well.
 In addition to the IGCSE subjects, students must study
Marathi as a compulsory subject (as directed by the State
School Education Department)
 Marathi will be a part of Graded internal assessments
Choosing the Right Subject

To take account of differing abilities, there is a choice between Core and


Extended papers in Mathematics in Grade 10.

SUBJECT SELECTION

Once students embark on their IGCSE studies, we will allow changes


in subject choices only within the first five (5) weeks of Term 1.
DYPIS – Promotion Policy

To be promoted from Grade 8 to Grade 9, a student must meet the following


condition:

 Students must achieve a minimum of D grade in all subjects. Those students


achieving E grades will be asked to study over the summer break and re-sit their
end-of-year exams(reinforcement examinations)post summer break. This is the
minimum academic requirement for promotion to Grade 9.

Important Points

 Plagiarism: taking work, words, ideas, pictures, information or anything that has
been produced by someone else and submitting it for assessment as one’s own.
 Copying: taking work of another student, with or without his or her knowledge
and submitting it as one’s own.
 Exam cheating: communicating with another candidate in an exam, bringing
unauthorised material into an exam room, or consulting such material during an
exam in order to gain an unfair advantage.
 Duplication: Submitting work that is substantially the same for assessment in
different courses without the consent of all teachers involved.
 Falsifying data: creating or altering data which have not been collected in an
appropriate way.
 Collusion: Helping another student to be academically dishonest.
The Consequences of Academic Dishonesty

 Incidences of academic mis-conduct at DYPIS are treated on a case-by case


basis and students may be penalized with a failing grade for the assignment or
assessment, the semester, or the year.

 In addition, a student may receive internal suspension. In severe cases, the


student may be suspended or dismissed from the School.
