1.0) HISTORY OF FASHION CLOTHES

Clothing in the beginning was viewed as a medium for safety towards harsh climatic
conditions, animals and insect bites along with being an expression of modesty. As
civilization developed clothing was once set as a standard for classism (regionality) and
social reputation.

The history of fashion construct kicks off in antique Rome and antique Egypt. In these
cultures, clothing and fashion were status symbols. Those who were wealthy would wear
expensive and stylish garments that were vivid, whereas the destitute would wear impartial
colors and their garments were inexpensive but handy.

A fashion trend implies a particular style or word distributed over a population at a

delivered period and region.A trend is a temporary style that is not necessarily positive by
the seasons when the fashion brands launch collections. Fashion has consistently been
and continues to be a reflection of society and common events. Famous cultural
personalities as an example celebrity, singers, and other high-profile persons additionally
affect fashion trends. Common fashion trends are repeatedly cyclical, borrowing
inspiration from previous decades and rearranging them to match present preferences.

textiles and daring looks in the form of denim and leather are most importantly
famous.

5.0) FASHION STATEMENT

5.1) Definition
A fashion statement is loosely defined as something original used to make a bold
statement about fashion knowledge or attract attention to oneself. Girls who began
wearing pencil skirts in the 1950s were making a bold fashion statement in their
clothing, as it differed widely from the accepted fashion trends. Fashion statements
can mean a variety of things. They can be a statement of liberation, personality
and the assert of fashion.

5.2) Making a Statement in Fashion

No matter your motives for wanting to make a fashion statement, stay true to
yourself. Choose clothes that reflect who you are, regardless of fashion trends.
Marching to the beat of your own drum is the best way to strike a new fad in fashion.

Wearing something attention-grabbing is not new. However, getting photographed

because you’re wearing something bold, and having that photo watched by
thousands of people on the internet, is. It’s how trends begin — we mimic the sees
we like. Similarly, statement pieces have always been around, but street style
photography gave them a forename because they’re what captured the
photographer’s, and the internet audience’s, attention.

6
6.0) FASHION TRENDSETTER

Fashion Trendsetter is an online fashion and color forecasting, trend reporting and news
e-zine which represents modern fashion details from the main trade fairs, trend reports
and fashion forecasts.

A fashion trendsetter is someone who sees at fashion as an artistic form. You will need a
creative eye, which is in tune with colour blends. It is vital that any potential fashion
trendsetter is knowledgeable of current fashion trends, with worthy skills at stylish
wardrobe, capable of attracting a plethora of compliments.

6.1) Malaysian Fashion Trendsetter

Amanda Liu
Liu started blogging in 2007 to rant about her daily life. However, when she enrolled
in college, she started paying closer attention to her personal style as everybody
on campus always seemed well-dressed. That was when Liu started posting
photos of her outfits on social media. With the exception of being a social media
influencer, she also works as a buyer for an e-commerce firm. Liu enjoys fashion
and being creative in showcasing product reviews.

6.2) International Fashion Trendsetter

Princess Diana
She stole our hearts and as a fashion icon, she continues to influence our style
choices. At the beginning of her royal tenure, the young princess was largely
photographed in ’80s style garments, think lots of frills and bows. However, the
trendsetter soon discarded dresses synonymous with traditional aristocratic
attire, trading the garish garments for much sexier silhouettes like Versace
dresses and Dior accessories.

What makes Princess Diana’s style so appealing, is how she used fashion as an
extension of her personality; each outfit was evocative of the warmth and charisma
7
she possessed. Whether she was dropping her kids off at school in collegiate
jumpers and cycling shorts or attending to her charitable duties in a casual blazer
and loafers, her fashion never faltered.

7.0) FASHION FORECASTING

Fashion forecasting is the prediction of mood, behavior and buying habits of the consumer.
It is no longer a question of identifying your customers by age, geography or income, but
looking into how and why they buy, based on their mood, beliefs and the occasion.

Fashion forecasters look for styles they think are prophetic, ideas that acquire the mood
of the times and sign a new fashion trend. Forecasting the future demand for particular
styles, fabrics and colors is an important aspect of the fashion industry.

8
Fashion forecasting is a vital activity to ensure that the process of observation narrated to
short and long term planning can be based on sound and rational decision making and
not hype. Forecasting can bridge the gap between ambiguous, conflicting signs and the
action taken by the design team. "Fashion forecasting combines theories of fashion
changes with the process of organizing and analyzing the details and synthesizing the
information into actionable forecasts." (Brannon 2000) .

Long term forecasting (over 2 years ahead) is used by executives for corporate planning
purposes. It is also used for marketing managers to position products in the marketplace
in relationship to competition.

Short term forecasting is used by product developers, merchandisers and production

managers to give style direction and shape collections. For short term forecasting most
apparel companies subscribe to one or more services, whose job is to scan the market
and report on the developments in color, textiles and style directions.
