Integrated (VTI)

Value Concept The value to be integrated is personal discipline from


moral dimension in the topic of school and community
resources in case of an injury or emergency. Their
relationship is seen through the objective as the learners
are to practice the use of these resources in maintaining
safety. The keywords "practice" and "maintaining" entails
the idea of a sustained and consistent behavior that would
result in safety. Personal discipline best describes this
value that would be integrated.

Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners will…

1. Identify the resources in school and community in


case of an injury or emergency;

2. practice the use of different resources to maintain


safety; and

3. design a contingency plan using the resources in


school and community in case of an injury or
emergency.

Key Ideas 1. School and Community Resources - These are the


programs, facilities, and equipment that could be
utilized for health.
2. Cases of Injury or Emergencies - These are the
undesirable circumstances wherein action and aid
is necessary.

Entry Point
The students will pick a paper from a box that contains
school resources in cases of injury or emergency. They
will then choose among the flashcards or items which one
indicates the resource they picked. Presenting the chosen
flashcard or item, they will discuss how they have
encountered or used this resource.

II. Safety and Injury Prevention

1. Establish a reporting system to keep track of any


injuries that occur at the school.
2. Any activity should be under the appropriate adult
supervision.
3. Teaching of proper playground usage.
4. For sporting activities, establish safety regulations
and wear the appropriate safety equipment.
5. Maintain routine equipment inspections.

III. First Aid Must Haves

1. Plasters: Apply plasters if you have any minor


cuts or grazes.
2. Sterile pad: You can use a sterile pad and secure it
in place using sticky tape if you need more
padding.
3. Sterile wound dressing: These are quick to apply
in an emergency and are best used on bigger
wounds to apply pressure and stop bleeding.
4. Bandages
a. Roller bandages: These can be applied to
wounds to stop bleeding, reduce swelling,
and support injured joints. They can also
be used to hold dressings in place.
b. Triangular bandages: Can be folded to be
used as a bandage, sling, or, if sterile, as a
dressing for burns and wounds.
5. Protective Items
a. Disposable gloves: Wearing disposable
gloves lowers the chance of infection.
