Description and Objectives
Course Description
In this workbook, we will learn the fundamental skills to perform a loadout analysis.
Skills Taught
Define GAP Elements: Define no loads elements to simulates the loss of the supports during the loadout procedure
Perform Loadout Analysis: Define the GAP input file and the run file for the loadout analaysis

Creating the Loadout Analysis Directory
In this section, we will create the loadout analysis directory.
3. Copy the SACS model file sacinp.dat, the seastate input file seainp.dat and the joint can input file jcninp.dat from static analysis directory into your
loadout analysis directory.

Modifying the Structural Model File
In this section, we will modify the structural model input file to only include the jacket for loadout.
2. Select Member > Actions > Delete to delete the deck structure, piles, conductors and wishbones. The groups that should be deleted are:
Conductors: CON
Hint: Use Display > Selections > Group to visualize only some of the groups.
Note: The weight groups of AREA, LIVE and MISC will be deleted together with deck.
Note: In the deck structure, there are some dummy members used to connect it to the conductors. These members (group W.B.) shall be deleted also.
3. Select Weight > Footprint > Footprint Weight to delete footprint weight EQPT. Delete each one of all the Footprint ID (SKID1, SKID2, SKID3 and SKID4).

4. Select Joints > Actions > Translate/Rotate > General to rotate/translate the entire structure. Pick the rotation angle about Y, input rotation angle -90.0
degrees, input Z translation = 11.0 m to rotate and move the structure, as shown below.

5. Select Joints > Actions > Translate/Rotate > General to rotate/translate the entire structure, pick the rotation angle about Z, input rotation angle 180.0
degrees, rotate the structure to the final position, as shown below.

6. After translation/rotation the structural model file shall look like following:

7. Select Member > General > Member Properties to delete all existing Ky, Kz, Ly and Lz definitions. Repeat the procedure for all the members.
8. Select Member > General > Member Properties to add Kz and Lz definitions for jacket horizontal framings and X braces for the jacket in a horizontal
position.
Note: After rotation, the supports and brace members changed causing different unbraced lengths. Comparing both situations, it is possible to verify that
Ky and Ly definitions became Kz and Lz.

9. Select Joint > Add Relative > Relative to add joints C101, C103, C201, C203, C301, C303, C401 and C403 relative to 101L, 103L, 201L, 203L, 301L and
303L respectively with dZ = -1.75 m.
Hint: Use Joint Label and use Volumes in order to obtain a clear view.
10. Select Joint > Add Relative > Relative to add joints D101, D103, D201, D203, D301, D303, D401, and D403 relative to C101, C103, C201, C203, C301,
C303, C401 and C403 respectively with dZ = -1.75 m.
11. Select Member > Add > Add to add members connecting the joints vertically. Name the Group Label as CAN.

Hint: Check the box Add immediately to avoid hitting apply for every added beam.

12. Select Member > General > Member Properties to modify members D101-C101, D103-C103, D201-C201, D203-C203, D301-C301, D303-C303 and
D401-C401 to compression only members by setting Member Type as Compression.
Note: For this case, there are no bending moments involved in the GAP elements due to boundary conditions. In case the GAP elements have bending
moments acting on them, as a best practice, is recommended to add member releases in order to no component of compression or tension act
along the member.

13. Select Member > Offsets > Offsets to modify members C101-101L, C103-103L, C201-201L, C203-203L, C301301L, C303-303L, C401-401L and C403-
403L with joint B offsets of -61.6 cm in global Z direction.
14. Select Joint > Layout > Fixities and set the joint fixity 001000 to joints D101, D103, D201, D203, D301, D303, D401 and D403.

15. Select Joint > Layout > Fixities and set the joint fixity 110000 to joints C101, C103, C201, C203, C301, C303, C401 and C403.
16. Select Properties > Member > Member Group and add group CAN defining the following properties:
Diameter = 76.20 cm

Modifying the Seastate File
In this section, we will modify the Seastate input file to only include the loads for loadout.
2. Edit the LDOPT card to revise the Mudline Elevation and Water Depth to be 0.
3. Remove HYDRO and HYDRO2 lines if they are included in the file. Remove AMOD, CDM, MGOVR and GRPOV cards.
5. Select Home > Tools > Insert Input Line > LOADCN to add LOADCN card representing a new load condition called DEAD.
6. Select Home > Tools > Insert Input Line > INCWGT to add INCWGT card including gravity effects from weight groups ANOD, LPAD and WKWY into load
case DEAD.
7. Select Home > Tools > Insert Input Line > DEAD to add the DEAD card which accounts only for structural self-weight.
8. Select Home > Tools > Insert Input Line > LCOMB to add the LCOMB card to define the five new load combinations (ALLS, LOS1, LOS2, LOS3 and
LOS4) which represents:
LOS1, LOS2, LOS3 and LOS4: 2 of 8 supports are not working for each of the combined load cases
9. Add gap load case selection LCSEL line to include ALLS, LOS1, LOS2, LOS3 and LOS4 for gap analysis.

Creating the GAP Input File
In this section, we will create a GAP input file in order to define ‘no load’ elements.
1. Open DATAGEN and select Create new data file > Static > Gap Element Input File.
Note: For this case choose the file units Metric – Force in Kilonewton
3. Select Home > Tools > Insert Input Line > GAPOPT.
Units = MN
5. Select Home > Tools > Insert Input Line > LCGAP MEM (Gap Type Override by Member) to define the following:
