Introduction

The data gives a median listing price per square foot, in various counties in the United States.

Square foot pricing can be important and it does not mean what buyers always look for, for

example, in many areas in the country, there may be 1500 square foot listed for $150000 and in

another area there is a $2000 square foot listed for $185,000. This means that the price per feet

for the larger home is $92.50. The buyers would be thinking what’s the better buy? The average

per-square-foot cost is found by adding the foot costs for each home sold for a given area and the

number of costs sold. Per foot costs are important and are used in a great deal when a house is

newly constructed. The square foot costs of rebuilding the home, is always slightly higher than

when compared to the average because the materials are always the same from one building to

the next.

The sample is reflective of the national variables, the mean and the standard deviations are still

within the mean. Like the national distribution, distribution of the data is lightly skewed. The

data was random as the Region was randomly selected and the region also has random data.

The Pattern

The graph shows the scatter plot of price against mean square feet. Hence the variables that will

be used in making the chart is as follows;

y = 103.46x + 172264

R² = 0.1714

The association between the price and mean square foot has a positive slope, meaning that square

feet has a positive correlation with slope.

From the Equation, the price would be as follows;

y = 103.46x + 172264

y = 103.46(1,200) + 172264 = 296416

Therefore, the price that will be listed is $296,416, this is because of the conclusion from the

regression analysis.
