1- [Bucharest] Sleep pathology and its systemic consequences.

Dear Members of the Selection Committee,

I would like to begin by expressing my enthrallment in embarking on a new chapter to fulfill my

desired interests in medical research. This is the perfect opportunity to expand my knowledge,
especially through the gates of UMPD’s designated research project, starting in September 2022.

I am currently a third-year student at Hebron University majoring in medicine. Ever since I made the
decision to major in medicine, I’ve been invested in its numerous fields, always eager to learn more and
diversify my knowledge. Having the opportunity to do a research project abroad at UMPD would allow
me expand my understanding and knowledge more than ever, especially in an embracing, innovative
and modern environment like UMPCD.

Moreover, taking the Pathology class I and II, pathology lab & behavioral science in Hebron University
unleashed my curiosity towards its diverse fields, one of them being Sleep Pathology, which focuses on
the different sleep disorders, categorizing them by their symptoms and causes. It caught my eyes as I
know countless people who suffer from sleep disorders, therefore how important it is to so many
people’s daily lives.

That’s why, it would be an honor to be a part of this research project, led by Prof. Dr. Florin Mihălțan
and Lecturer Dr. Oana Claudia Deleanu. I’ve read some of Prof. Dr. Florin Mihălțan’s work before, and I
found his research quite astonishing, especially the research regarding COVID-19, hence my utmost
excitement for this project and to work with such a brilliant mind like him.

Throughout my journey in Hebron university, while ensuring the upmost academic excellence,
I’ve managed to maintain an active university life through extra-curricular activities, most importantly
being a member of Palestinian Medical Students association, specifically the Standing Committee on
Research Exchange. As a member, I’ve managed to participate in many significant events, such as the
SEEMS PINK campaign, beyond medicine program and blue circles day campaign.

Lastly, even though I got a full scholarship to study in Romania when I was in my university search
journey after finishing high school, I couldn’t go for family reasons. Which is what making this the
perfect opportunity for me, as studying there has been a dream of mine for a long time. I’m also thrilled
about this opportunity because it’s located specifically in Bucharest, “The Paris of The West” which is
known for its rich history and wide cultural diversity.

I value the time you took to consider my application, and I am looking forward to hearing back from you!

Sincerely,

Majd Oweidat
