Who is a Khalifah/ Caliph?
A person who follows

The Successor of Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬.

After the death of Prophet Muhammad (‫)ﷺ‬, the people who lead the
Muslims all over the world were called “Caliphs.”
What does R.A mean?
Radeyallāhu ′Anhu means Allah is pleased with him.

Radeyallāhu ′Anhu is said after the name of the companions of the


Prophet Muhammad (‫ )ﷺ‬for example:
 Abu Bakr (ُ‫) َر ِض َي ه ٰٱَّللُ َع ْنه‬
 Umar bin Khattab (ُ‫ٱَّلل َع ْنه‬
ُ ٰ‫ي ه‬ ِ ‫) َر‬
َ ‫ض‬

 Usman bin Affan (ُ‫) َر ِض َي ه ٰ ُٱَّلل َع ْنه‬


 Ali bin Abi Talib (ُ‫ٱَّلل َع ْنه‬
ُ ٰ‫ي ه‬ ِ ‫) َر‬
َ ‫ض‬
1st Caliph

Abu Bakr (ُ‫)ر ِض َي ه ٰٱَّللُ َع ْنه‬

Real name: Abdullah

Title: As-Siddiq (One who confirms the truth)

Tribe: Quraysh

Relation with Prophet (‫)ﷺ‬: Best Friend and father-in-law

Duration of his caliphate: Two years and three months

Accepted Islam: First among the men who accepted Islam


Abu Bakr received the
title of “As-Siddiq”
