Appendix A - Finances required as per UKBA guidelines

Students need to show they have money to support the first year of Tuition Fees (Remaining) and
up to 9 months living costs (Remaining).

Living Expenses:

If your Institution is in London - £1,334 x 9 = £ 12,006

If your Institution is outside London - £1,023 x 9 = £ 9,207

Proof of Availability of FUNDS can be show in following forms:

a) Savings Account - Original Bank Statement stamped by the bank along with Covering Letter
from the bank as per Appendix-B;

c) Education Loan Covering Letter from the bank as per Appendix-D along with Sanction
Letter as per Appendix-E.

Please note carefully:

1. The loan should NOT be secured against Fixed Deposits. It may either be Unsecured
(if below 7.5 lacs) or Secured against Real Estate (House Property / Land, but not
Agricultural Land).
2. The loan should be UNCONDITIONAL, i.e., it should be clearly stated in the
SanctionLetter that “All Conditions of the Loan have been met”.
3. It should be an Education Loan and not a “Personal” Loan of any kind.

b) Details: Date, Account Holder’s Name, Account Number.
c) Signatory – Full Name, Designation, Bank Stamp, Direct Email / Telephone.
d) Funds must be in Student’s Name or Parent’s Name or Legal Guardian Name ONLY.
I always prefer that the Funds are in the student’s name.
e) If the funds are in Parent’s name(s) then student needs to attach a Birth Certificate. Birth
certificate should be printed in English and should have student’s full name as in his
passport. In India, most of the birth certificates made at the time of birth don’t have the
child’s name, so student must obtain a new birth certificate from Municipality. Spelling of
both parents’ names should match exactly with the ones mentioned on financial documents
and passport if parents are sponsors or are joint account holder. If it is in Legal Guardian’s
name, then student needs to attach a court document mentioning the details of the legal
guardian.
f) If parents or legal guardian is sponsoring your education, then you would require a
Sponsorship Affidavit (Appendix G).
g) These funds should be at least 28 days old at the time of visa application (i.e., the
minimum daily balance in the bank statement during the past 28 days shall be taken
as the 28 days old balance)
