Hello,

Welcome to Science Class! My name is Ms. Casolari, and I will be your child’s teacher
this year. I am a masters’ student from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Science in
Biomedical Science. A little bit about myself, I enjoy spending my time working in my
gardening, camping, reading a good book, or spending time with my cat whom I
absolutely adore. For me, studying Science has been a lifelong pursuit, one which I am
happy to share with all of my students.

Science is a subject that will require students to engage in a variety of explorations

beyond reading and memorization. In this class we will implement curriculum based on
the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to engage students to make sense of
the natural world through phenomenon-driven units. While participating in a series of
unit investigations students will develop an ability to collect and analyze data to make
sense of real-world problems. Students will develop their critical thinking skills by
making connections both within and between the content and other science disciplines.

As a note, the class policies can be found in the course guidelines on Schoology. I look
forward to working with you all.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Let’s make this an incredible
year!

Ms. Casolari
