1. Abstract

This invention is small scale crop harvesting machine which have a diesel engine, gearbox,
pair of tyres, scissoring knives, and lug conveyor. The power transmits from engine to all
mechanisms through belt drives, chain drives, and bevel gears. The bevel gear box output
shaft is connected to slider crank mechanism which converts rotary motion of the shaft into
reciprocating motion of cutter bar. The reaped crop is conveyed to one side of the machine
through the collecting mechanism which consists of flat belt with collecting lugged plates
bolted on it. This machine can harvests wheat, barely, long grass types and other crop stems.

2. Background of the invention

This machine is crop harvester operates using diesel engine which drives for reaping,
travelling, and conveying mechanisms.

Prior art
 The machines invented before can reap the crop stems at somewhat high height
from ground. This means, they have not been reaped from lowermost stem height.
But, our local society needs to use those crop stems as food for its animals.
 The machines invented before were large scale machines and these cannot be
afforded their initial and running cost by any farmer rather than of investors; or
they are not suitable to the ground surface and appearance of farm fields.
 Additionally, the position of upper lug conveyor is very high since height of our
local crops is lower than the foreign crops. Therefore the harvesting efficiency
will be low because of some of stems will not well conveyed.

Objective of the invention

The objective of the invention is to invent a new small scale machine efficient and able to reap
from lowermost stem height.

To make the intended output it uses the following parts:-

 Diesel engine gives mechanical power for moving forward, reaping and
conveying the reaped crops as it converts fuel chemical energy to mechanical
energy.
 Crank slider mechanism converts rotational motion to reciprocating motion for
scissoring knife.
 Scissoring knife cuts the stems of the crops.
 Star wheels forcefully conveys the reaped crops toward the lugs to be conveyed
by lug conveyor
 Lug conveyor conveys the reaped crops to right side of the machine
 Gearbox system, belt drive, chain drive reduces the rotational speed of the engine

3. Claim
1. The invention of the harvester machine holds frame supported by two wheels and uses
diesel engine to drive the whole harvesting machine. The diesel engine power take off
shaft have attached double grooved v-belt pulley through key that drives for forward
travelling, reaping and harvesting mechanisms. The machine has controlling mechanisms
and one operator guides the process of movement to reap and travel throughout the field.
2. As set forth d in claim (1) the machine have belt drive, bevel gear drive and chain drive
which transfers mechanical rotational power from the engine to the harvesting
mechanisms. The mechanical power driven by the engine divides to scissoring knife
through crank slider mechanism and to lug conveyor mechanism through belt drive.
3. As set forth in claim (2) the process of power division and transmission is accomplished
by two (2) v-belts drives from engine. One to the gearbox system for driving the wheels
and one for movement of cutter bar mechanism and for crop conveyor system.
4. As set forth in claim (2) the power transferred from the engine to the reaping parts is
through pulley, at the same shaft sprockets with the same diameter transfers the motion to
pulley attached with conveyor shaft.
5. As set forth in claim (4) the first shaft holding sprocket one transfers power to the crank
slider mechanism attached shaft.
6. As set forth in claim (4) for stable rotation of the shaft two pedestal bearings are attached
with the shaft.
7. As set forth in claim (1) the machine has also belt drive and gearbox to drive axle of the
tyre wheel to travel forward.
8. As set forth in claim (2) the lugs of the conveyor drives for the star wheels which is the
tip of star wheels and lugs are in contact.
9. As set forth in claim (1) the machine have different controlling mechanisms through
handle –harvesting clutch, forward travelling clutch, fuel lever (governor lever) and
steering.
10. As set forth in claim (9) the machines uses jaw clutch for turning the machine left or
right.
11. As set forth in claim (9) the machine uses idler pulley as a main clutch used for stopping
the motion of wheels as well as the motion of reaping.
