SPECIAL CHAPTER (The truth and thegiE) EVERY WEEKEND, when it

was time for Keiran to come home to Raiven, he would do so straight away
to see his kara and spend time with him, but not that day. ARer leaving work
and changing into his civilian clothes, he went to a restaurant instead to meet
with his ex-boss. Honestly, Keiran didn’t want to meet Kamden, but for the
sake of their past relationship as boss and employee, he agreed to meet with
him. Entering the restaurant, Keiran immediately spotted Kamden sitting on
the corner like some kind of criminal hiding from the cops. “There’s a lot of
vacant tables, you know,” Keiran said as he sat on the chair in front of
Kamden. “Why the corner?” “I’m afraid that some scouts would see me.”

Keiran frowned. “Scouts? Like…spies?” In Kamden’s line of work, it was

possible that he was being spied on.

Kamden frowned back. “What? No. Scout like talent scouts. I’m too
handsome not to be noticed.” Keiran’s frown disappeared, and he looked at
his ex-boss flatly. “I see…you still haven’t changed. You’re still crazy.”
Kamden smiled. “Am I not too handsome?”

Keiran sighed, fed up. “Seriously, what do you want…ex-boss?” Kamden

pulled a hurt face. “Ouch. Calling me ex-boss hurts so much.”

Keiran had a strong urged to roll his eyes at his ex-boss’ dramatic
reactions.“Seriously…” Kamden chuckled seeing the fed-up expression on
Keiran’s face before he became serious. “I’m here on a mission.” “And?
What does it have to do with me?”

Kamden looked Keiran in the eyes. “I only trust a few individuals and you’re
one of them.” “Thanks, but if it’s a job offer, I have to decline.” Keiran gave
it to Kamden straight. “I don’t want to go back to that kind of work again.” “I
know.” Kamden’s tone was sok, like he understood,

but Keiran could see the stubbornness in Kamden’s eyes. Keiran knew
Kamden would never give up recruiting him. Keiran sighed.“Look, I owe you
for saving my parents life and for setting me free, but I will never do that
again.” “I know,” Kamden repeated. “And I’m not asking you to. What I’m
asking of you right now is to be part of something big, bigger than your work
now.” There was no hint of silliness and humor in Kamden’s expression. He
was like this when serious. “I know that you wanted to be a soldier to help
the weak and serve your country, but you chose to be a trainer for your kara.
So you won’t be away from him while working.” Keiran nodded.“And I
don’t regret it.”

Kamden nodded back. “I know. I can see it in your eyes, you’re happy, but I
don’t think being a trainer is what you really want to do. You just accepted it
because it’s near your kara and you’ll get to see him oken.” “And your
point?”

“What if I could make you dreams come true?” Kamden’s tone held no
humor. “Save the weak…serve your country and be with your kara whenever
you want?” “I’d say it’s too good to be true,” Keiran replied and

leaned on his seat while his eyes never lek Kamden. “And when an offer is
too good to be true, there’s always a drawback.” “Is fighting the Triad a
drawback to you?” Kamden asked. Keiran blinked. “Aren’t you part of the
Triad…?”

Kamden shook his head. “Undercover for nearly a decade.” Keiran’s lips
parted in shock. “You’re…a spy?” Kamden nodded and smiled. “I’m good,
aren’t I?” Keiran agreed with Kamden, he was indeed good. “And
you’re…?” “Organési.” Keiran reached for his forehead and massaged
it.“No wonder Thanatos was part of the Organési. I always thought Thanatos
was your spy.” Kamden chuckled. “No way.”

Napailing si Keiran pagkatapos makabawi sa pagkabigla. “Damn, man. So

that’s why you did everything to put Thanatos in the Ultor’s court. You even
went as far as creating an identity for him. Thanatos Nicolaides.” Kamden
nodded. “It was supposed to be my spot, but I urged my father to let me go
undercover. It was a

wanted. So…” Kamden took a deep breath and looked at Keiran.“Interested

in joining the org fully this time and not just part time? We may not be
soldiers and we don’t get to receive thank yous for saving a life and an
award for doing a job well done, but we will be helping a lot of people. And
I believe your kara is also part of the Organési. You don’t have to lie or keep
it from him. Yes, the job sometimes can be dangerous and difficult, but we
get to help weak people from being trampled on and we get to kill those
inhumane bastards who think they’re above the law.” For Keiran, it was
indeed a good offer. It would be like he was back on the field and subduing
insurgents, but still be able to spend a lot of time with his kara, but… “I want
to talk to Raiven first,” Keiran said. “We’re partners and I want to hear his
opinion on the matter.” “Okay.” Kamden placed a calling card on the table.
“Whatever you decide, give me a call.” Kamden accepted and kept the
calling card. “Why me, by the way? I’m sure there’s a lot of experienced
warriors out there.” “Organési lack snipers.” Kamden grinned. “And you’re
one of the best. They’ve actually been looking for you since you killed Henre
Fernando.” Keiran grimaced when he heard the name. “He was threatening
and annoying my kara.”

Kamden shook his head.“Either way, the Organési was impressed by the
distance and the precision of the shot that they’d been looking for you. When
I found out, I promised to recruit you.” Hearing Kamden’s story, as a sniper,
Keiran was flattered. “I’ll talk to my kara. Then I’ll decide.” Kamden
nodded before placing a thick pouch on the table. “Here. Accept my wedding
gik.” With a frown, Keiran stared at the pouch. “What’s that?” “Just take it,”
Kamden urged.

“I have a bad feeling about it,” said Keiran who was staring at the pouch
before he finally took it and opened it to take a peek. Keiran’s lips parted in
shock when he saw the contents of the pouch. He immediately closed it and
put it back on the table. “I can’t accept it. My bad feeling is correct.”
Kamden pouted, clearly insulted, but he was acting like a kid, so Keiran was
not guilty. “It’s a wedding gik!” Kamden clicked his tongue. “Actually, I’m
just giving it back.” That made Keiran frown and look at Kamden. “What do
you mean giving it back? I don’t remember giving you that amount of money.”
When Keiran saw the content, he knew something was up. It was not just
money, there were cheques as well.

Kamden sighed and leaned back on his seat. “Just take it. As I said, I’m just
giving it back in a form of a wedding gik.” Umiling si Keiran. “I won’t
accept.”

Kamden sighed. “If I told you that that money belonged to your kara, will you
take it?” Keiran snapped his eyes to Kamden, gaze filled with questions and
confusion. Kamden graciously answered them. “Atty. Raiven Valiz gave it to
me.” Kamden took a deep breath.“He gave me every single penny he owned
about a year ago and I’m giving it back. Every penny.” Keiran was still
confused as to why Raiven would give Kamden money until a thought came
to him. “When did he give it to you…?” By Kamden’s gaze, Keiran knew that
Kamden knew why he was asking. “About a year ago,” Kamden answered
and sighed. “When I freed you from our contract.” Keiran had a hunch, but
hearing it from Kamden, he felt like all his strength was drained from his
body. He knew, of all people, how important money was to Raiven, and he
gave it all to Kamden to free him? Every single penny?

Keiran didn’t know what to say. He didn’t even know

how to react and how to face his kara knowing the sacrifice he made for him.
“He loves you, you know,” Kamden spoke quietly. “I was just testing him,
really.” Kamden chuckled as he admitted his intention. “I just want to know
what he could do for you, so I asked him to give me the most important
‘thing’ in his life. Money. And he didn’t even hesitate.” lYamden smiled. “He
immediately agreed and gave it to me. No fuss. No complaints. He just gave
it without second thoughts, and when he did that, I knew you were with a
right person, so I set you free.” Keiran was gaping at Kamden. “I signed a
non-disclosure agreement, so don’t tell him,” Kamden requested. “He’ll sue
my ass.” Keiran was still gaping at Kamden. He really didn’t care if Kamden
got sued, his mind was filled with what his kara did for him. He didn’t tell
me. Was this the time when he accepted lots of cases and borrowed money
from Raizen? If he was right, Keiran remembered Raiven’s smile when they
saw each other again. He remembered the expression and emotion on his
kara’s face when he told him was free. He knew! Because he paid for it!
Keiran abruptly stood up and lek without saying anything to Kamden.

“Hey! I ordered food!” Kamden shouted, but Keiran was already long gone,
making Kamden sigh. “Oh, we\. I’ll just send this to their house.” Kamden
rested on his seat and smiled when the food he ordered started arriving one
aker another. And when everything was already on the table, he started eating
heart”ily while thinking of ways of how to get away if Atty. Raiven Valiz
sued him for breaching their contract.

KEIRAN WAS IN HURRY. He wanted to see Raiven right away that he

drove like a mad man. He couldn’t take his mind off what his kara did for
him. At that time, our relationship was just starting, but he did that for me.
The time when I was questioning his trust and love for me, he went to meet
Kamden to free me. I’m such an idiot! Why didn’t I notice?! Why didn’t I ask
when I learned from Raizen that Raiven borrowed money! Fuck! How could I
be so ignorant! Keiran didn’t even bother driving his to the garage, he just lek
the car on the side of the road and entered their home. He entered using his
key and immediately went looking for his kara, but he wasn’t in the house.
Keiran stepped out of their house and ran towards his parents’ home.
Kapapasok lang niya sa bahay, naririnig na niya ang boses at tawa ni Raiven
sa

kusina.

Halos takbuhin ni Keiran ang pagitan patungong kusina para lang makita ang
kasintahan. When Keiran stepped inside the kitchen, he stilled at the door
when he saw Raiven laughing with his parents and sister. They were making
cookies and Raiven was the one tasked to form a small dough into a small
ball. And seeing his kara brightly smiling and laughing contagiously with
everybody, Keiran couldn’t help going in fast to hug his kara tight from
behind. “I love you,” Keiran whispered in Raiven’s ear who was shocked at
Keiran’s sudden appearance. “I love you so much! So, so much, kara!”
Raiven was stunned at Keiran’s behavior that he froze for a second before
playfully flicking Keiran’s forehead. “What are you on about?” Keiran
smiled and kissed the back of Raiven’s neck. “Nothing. I just love you much!
Can’t I say it out loud?” “Stop being cheesy, Kuya!” Sandy grumbled at her
two brothers. “You’re disturbing a cookie making.” Keiran’s father tapped
the chair beside him. “Come on here, son. Let them finish their cookie
making.” But Keiran didn’t listen and just kept hugging Raiven.

“I don’t want to let my kara go.”

Stella, Keiran’s mom slapped Keiran’s hand embracing Raiven with a
spatula. “Huwag ka ngang isturbo. I’m teaching Raiven how to make cookies!
Doon ka sa ama mo. Magsama kayong dalawa.” But Keiran still didn’t let go
even when his mother was glaring at him. Raiven sighed. “Let’s let him be,
Ma,” said Raiven while continuing his task of making a dough ball then he
showed it to Keiran’s mom. “Look, Ma, aren’t I awesome?” Stella looked at
Raiven flatly. “’Yan lang naman ang nagawa mo, ah.”

Humaba ang nguso ni Raiven. “Ma, don’t you know how hard it is to make a
ball with my hands? I squished it most of the time. It’s very fragile.” Stella
sighed. “Make it right, or else, no cookie for you.”

Raiven narrowed his eyes at Keiran’s mom and the two started arguing. And
Keiran, who was watching, couldn’t help but smile. His mother was
genuinely annoyed at Raiven and Raiven was complaining, but Keiran felt
warm and happy because that was how his mother treated him and Sandy.
And seeing her treat Raiven like that, how comfortable she looked while
scolding Raiven, Keiran knew that his parents were

“Anong nginingiti-ngiti mo riyan?” inis na tanong ni Stella sa anak. “Hindi

mo ba nakikita na hindi ginagawa nang maayos nitong kapareha mo ang
trabaho niya? Gusto mo hindi rin kita bigyan ng cookie?” Mahinang natawa si
Keiran. “Ma, you’ve been spoiling Raiven ever since, I don’t think you won’t
give him cookies even though he’s not helping much.” Keiran’s father
nodded. “Agreed.” Even Sandy nodded. “Hmp!” Stella glared at Raiven.
“What are you looking at? Work! Work!” “You’re so mean, Ma,” Raiven
replied and the two were arguing again and everyone just let the two be.
Sanay na kasi ang mga ito na palaging nagsasagutan ang dalawa sa kusina.
Stella didn’t stop urging Raiven to work harder and make perfect cookie
balls while Keiran was still clinging to Raiven. Kahit anong pagpapaalis ni
Stella kay Keiran, mas lalo lang humihigpit ang yakap ni Keiran sa beywang
ni Raiven. And Raiven didn’t mind at all. He liked feeling Keiran’s warmth
against his back, after all. Thankfully, the cookie making ended with perfect
cookies, making everyone happy and making Raiven boast to Keiran’s mother
his dough ball making

technique.
Stella put a separate cookie in a cookie jar and gave it to Raiven aker eating
their fill with cookies. Just like everyone said, Stella had been spoiling
Raiven. Not only because Stella treated Raiven as a son, but also because
she wanted to care for the person her son loved. And of course, she was very
proud of Raiven. Who wouldn’t want a lawyer son-in-law? A successful
lawyer at that.

THE TWO bid goodbye to Keiran’s parents and went to their house. While
walking, Raiven was eating the cookie in the cookie jar while murmuring it’s
so good. Keiran couldn’t help finding his kara very adorable while munching
on the cookies that his mother gave them for later. Entering their house,
Keiran faced Raiven. “I met with Kamden today.” Raiven stopped munching
and looked at Keiran. Seeing Raiven alarmed, Keiran knew he was worried
for him. “He offered me a job.”

Raiven’s stilled. “What…y-you accepted?”

Keiran shook his head immediately seeing the worry in his kara’s eyes.“No. I
told him I’ll talk to you first.” Raiven looked relieved. “That’s good.”

Keiran took a step closer to his kara and stared at him intently. “Why didn’t
you tell me?” Raiven frowned hearing Keiran’s inquisitive tone. “Tell you
what?” “That you paid for my freedom.”

Raiven’s lips parted, and he became silent for a whole minute because he bit
his lower lip. “He told you…?” Keiran nodded. “Why did you do it?”

Raiven shrugged nonchalantly, like it was not a big deal.“Because I love you,
of course.” Keiran immediately soRened. “Kara…”

“I don’t want to see you so torn,” Raiven continued explaining, hoping

Keiran wouldn’t get angry at him for keeping it a secret. “And it’s just money.
I can earn it back.” Keiran looked at Raiven like he was astonished that those
words lek Raiven’s mouth. “Kara, I know how much money meant to you.”
Raiven shrugged. “So? You mean more to me than money does.” Keiran’s
heard thundered. “Y-yeah?”
Raiven nodded. “Yeah. And it’s not like I’ve been spending money since we
started living together, so it’s like you’re paying me back.”

Keiran couldn’t help laughing at Raiven’s reasoning. ”Really “Yes. Really.”

Keiran sighed and shook his head before gathering Raiven in his arms. Then
he looked deep into his kara’s eyes. III love you so much, you know that,
rightest Raiven nodded. And I love you too, hun.” Raiven said it with no so6
expression on his face, but Keiran still felt his sincerity. “I’m glad I met you.
I’m glad I love you,” Keiran whispered and pressed his lips to Raiven’s.
“And glad I made an amorous agreement with you.” And while Keiran’s lips
were on Raiven, he felt Raiven smile and replied in a whisper,“Yeah. Me
tooth

“Totus tuus…”

“…Semper fideles.”
