ABSTRACT:

The Concentric Tube Heat Exchanger was created primarily to explain how industrial heat
exchangers function. A heat exchanger is a device designed to transfer heat from one medium to
another efficiently. The goal of this experiment is to show the working principles of a concentric
tube heat exchanger that operates in both co-current and counter-current flow circumstances. The
final goal is to show how flow rate variation affects the performance parameters of a concentric
tube heat exchanger working under counter-current flow circumstances. a mixture of heat and
chilly Both hot and cold fluids enter the heat exchanger at the same end and flow in the same
direction in parallel flow to begin the tests (co-current). The hot and cold fluids, on the other
hand, enter the heat exchanger at opposing ends and flow in counterflow in opposite directions.

INTRODUCTION:
Heat exchangers are devices that allow heat to be transferred between two fluids of different
temperatures while preventing them from mixing. Heat exchangers come in a variety of shapes
and sizes, and they use a variety of hardware and heat transfer equipment configurations. Shell
and tube, plate and shell, adiabatic wheel, plate fin, pillow plate, and more options are available.
It also features two different flow configurations: parallel and counter flow. Heat exchangers are
widely utilised in a variety of applications, ranging from home heating and air conditioning to
chemical processing and power generation in big plants. Heat exchangers vary from mixing
chambers in that the two fluids involved are not allowed to combine.
Convection in each fluid and conduction through the wall separating the two fluids are the most
common methods of heat transfer in a heat exchanger. It's easier to deal with an overall heat
transfer coefficient U when analysing heat exchangers since it accounts for all of these impacts
on heat transfer. The magnitude of the temperature differential at a given place in a heat
exchanger determines the rate of heat transfer between the two fluids at that site, which changes
along the heat exchanger.
