XJBJECT: CECO Fuel Control Idle Speed Adjustment

)veradjustment of the idle speed adjustment on the MC-40 Fuel Control can
lamage the idle stop screw. If this occurs, removal of the stop screw is
hen difficult or impossible without machining. (See Figure 1.)

rhis frequently reported damage appears to be in speed increase direction

clockwise adjustment). Improper maintenance practices can cause, or
;everely aggravate, this condition.

To preclude possible damage to the control, a O-25 pound-inch torque wrench

;hould be used to trim the idle speed.

Zunning torque on the idle adjustment should be lo-12 pound-inches.

Application of 20 pound-inches or more can result in damage to the idle

Stop screw.

Application of 15 pound-inches indicates that the idle adjustment is against

he stop screw. No further adjustment is obtainable. If this occurs without
he desired speed being obtained,

1. Check for correct idle adjustment procedure. (,Refer to Engine

Operation and Maintenance Manual. )

a. Generator switch-OFF

b. Fuel control pointer--O-degree mark

C. Correct throttle rigging

2. Troubleshoot the engine as outlined under the following items lisied

in table III-3 of the Engine Operation and Maintenance Manual.
