Subject: Oxide Discoloration of Hot Section Components

Gas Producer Turbine Supports, Power Turbine Supports,

and Outer Combustion Chambers have been and are being
shipped out in an array of colors. These colors range
from light straw, dark blues, purple, and in a few cases,
black. The color concentrations in some cases may be
spotty and in others cover a considerable area.

This discoloration is not the result of overtemperature

operation of the engine. It is the result of the heat treat
furnace atmosphere in which these part:; are subjected.
This discoloration will not affect the function of the part
and is not cause for rejection.
