Importance of taxonomy in plants

Plant taxonomy is very important in systematic

botany since it is the science that studies the
identification, nomenclature and classification of
plants.
In taxonomy we identify the species, genus, family,
order, class and division of plants. Thus having
detailed information of the hierarchy in order to
form a classification system.
Through time, man has used plants for medicinal,
industrial and food uses, this made it necessary to
classify each one of the plants for their best use and
for their care and preservation. This is called
taxonomy.
