Analysis of the relationship Socioeconomic and Cultural Societies of Land Use in Miangas and
Marampit Island. This study aims to determine the relationship of socio-economic conditions of cultural
communities in both border island of land use. The factors of support and threatens the ecosystem
sustainablity of island are very important, because these island have Economi Exclusif Zone and
Platform continent would keeps the Indonesia's territorial integrity Rebuplik. The study was conducted
by ground check the image interpretation, focus group discussions (FGD), interviews, questionnaires
and literature study. Image interpretation shows that Miangas dominated by plantations are 75.63%,
2.88%, while the clearing of forests is the smallest cover that is just 2.47%. Marampit island has a land
cover better with the composition of plantations (mostly agroforestry systems) 68%, dryland agriculture
16%, 15% of mangrove forests and settlements only 1%. FGD results show that the level of population
pressure is low, land on the island Miangas not intensively managed it proved much open land and
overgrown with grass and the density of coconut is very hight, because of the falling fruit has been
grown. The pressure of land on the Marampit island relatively balanced and show the local wisdom.
This is proven by the intensification of plantation land, and supporting the most of people's need. Based
on the analysis of the socioeconomic and cultural conditions, the deciding factor is the social factor
where people on the island Marampit have higher mobility. Easier access caused a turnover rate people
both locals and guests is higher than in Miangas. Indirectly it encourages people on the island insight
Marampit higher.
