CASE STUDY
INTRODUCTION
The case study is potentially the most valuable methods known for obtaining a
true and comprehensive picture of individually. It makes an intensive investigation of
the complex factors that contribute to the individuality of a social unit or person, family,
group, social institution or community. The purpose is to understand the lifecycle or an
important part of the lifecycle of the unit. It is an analysis involving the very careful the
complete observation of a person. A situation or an institution. It’s deeply and analysis
interaction between the factors that explain present status or that influence change or
growth. It is a longitudinal approach, showing development over a period of time. Case
study is closely related to experimentation whose purpose is to identify antecedents
responsible for the occurrence of such phenomena as reading disability, maladjustment,
immaturity and other behavioural Problems. Among the non-standardised techniques
of collecting information about the individual the techniques of the case study are
widely used. Case study refers to an intensive investigation in a person’s intra and inters
individual relationship. It is a collection o all available information social, psychological,
physiological, biological, environmental, vocational, that promises to help to explain a
single individual or single social unit such as a family relationship with a total stranger.
To be able to establish good report quickly. It is necessary to enter deeply and fully into
the entire background of the personal life of the subject. This requires a case history to
be prepared as a preliminary to the case study. A.E TAXLER says, “A case study is a
detailed study of an individual conducted for the purpose of bringing about better
adjustment of the person who is the subject of the investigation”. It in other words
provides information first of all in regards to the nature of the problem and letter on it
helps in providing treatment.
CHARACTERISTICS
Many children are hard of hears every such children is not exceptional. The less
is such as to impair communication skills within a particulars group of exceptional
children there are also variations. There are different degrees of hearing less. Hence it
appropriate to define exceptional child those different from the average to degree in
physical and Psychological characteristics that the traditional school programme does
not allow all round development progress for them. They need special ancillary services
to grow according to their ability.
EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN
The term “Gifted” when used in respect to students children or youth means
those with special talents in some specific areas such as in Science. Fine art leadership
etc. The gifted children are valuable assets of the society irrespective of religious, rural
urban groups, high/low position of social economic status. The Progress of a country
largely depends on the proper education of gifted children who will one day provide
leadership to the nation in all walks of the life. The gifted children are those who show
their greater intellectual superiority and capacity in archiving his standard of
attainment in any live.

with high intelligence parent can identify gifted children by observing
behavioural characteristics of gifted children easily development of child’s
language , intellectual curiosity.

ROLE OF TEACHER
1. The teacher should pass the knowledge of psychology of the gifted children.
2. The teacher should know the specific method of teaching for gifted children.
3. The teacher should have variety interest in different areas or hobbies.
4. The teacher should have the knowledge how to initiate the group discussion and
workshops.
5. The teacher should have charming personalities and good adjustment
personality.
6. The teacher himself should be gifted children.
7. The teacher should know the weak and strong point of gifted children for
learning.
8. The teacher should spend a lot of time with the gifted children.
