A cell-phone also known as a hand-held phone, is a type of telephone
that can make and receive voice calls over a radio frequency-based
connection to a telecommunications networks while the user is on the
move in the service area

1.1 In 1917, Finnish inventor Eric Tigerstedt filed a patent
for a "pocket-size folding telephone with a very thin
carbon microphone". Early predecessors of cellular
phones included analog radio communications from
ships and trains.
