Introduction
1. We are Going to create a 3D CAD model using ANSYS Simulation Software.
2. Open the ANSYS Software in your pc.
3. In the toolbox, maximize Component System, and open Geometry (Double
click/ Drag and drop Geometry) in Project Schematic.
4. Right click on Geometry and open Edit Geometry in DesignModeler.
Procedure
1. Now select XYPlane, right click on it and click on Look at.
2. Go to Sketching, select Rectangle and draw one rectangle.
3. Select Constraints and select Equal length, and select two adjacent edges of
the rectangle.
4. Go to dimensions, select one edge and give it the length of 2.5 m
5. Then Extrude the sketch, give the depth of 2.5 m, and click the Generate
button.
6. One 3D Cube will form.
7. Select any face of the cube and go sketching and draw one circle in the center
of the face.
8. Again select Extrude option, now instead of add material, select cut material
in Operation, select Extend type to Through all, and click Generate button.
9. Hence, our geometry is formed.

Introduction
We need to create an axisymmetric cross section of a circular pipe in order to
capture the flow through it..
Procedure
1. Open ANSYS, Double Click on Fluid Flow (Fluent).
2. Edit geometry in DesignModeler.
3. Now select XYPlane, right click on it and click on Look at.
4. Go to Sketching, create a Rectangle, Give dimension 100*15 mm.
5. Go to Concept, select Surface from Sketches, and select sketch1.
6. Click on the Generate button, three Surfaces will be formed, and now Close
the DesignModeler.
7. Right click on Mesh and click edit.
8. Click Generate to see the default meshing in all three surfaces.
9. Mesh is created.
10. Right click on Mesh click on Sizing, Select rectangular surface. And give
appropriate sizing, based on your computer.
11. Again right click on mesh and select Inflation option, Select body of inflation,
and select both 100 mm edge length lines, and give 15 layers of growth.
key is N) option and give it name, repeat it for the rest of the edges. Then
close the mesh, and update it by right clicking.
14. Open Setup check on Double Precision checkbox and choose no. of cores as
your system has offered to, and Start.
15. In the task page change Planar 2D space to Axisymmetric 2D space.
17. Go to Boundary conditions double click on inlet and give it velocity of 0.05
m/s, Click apply and close.
18. Go to solution and Initialize the solution.
19. Now double click on Run Calculation, and give 100 no. of iterations and press
calculate.
20. The above image shows the calculated result.
Result
This is how the viscosity of fluid affects the shear stress in fluid. Through the
experiment of Laminar flow.

Introduction
We need to create a Step Down chamber in 2D in designModeler, and we’ll
capture flow inside the geometry.
Procedure
1. Open ANSYS, Double Click on Fluid Flow (Fluent).
2. Edit geometry in DesignModeler, and make geometry as shown in fig.
3. Give dimensions as listed below.
4. Generate Surface from sketch, now select XYPlane and create new sketch
and make two lines as shown in below fig.
5. Open Tools, Select Face Split option select targeted body as this surface and
tool geometry and both lines or points connecting lines. Click the generate
button your surface will be splitted in three parts along these lines.
7. As Mesh opens right click on it and select Sizing, select Edge sizing and select
three edges as shown below.
● Edge Sizing 1
● Edge Sizing 2
● Edge Sizing 3
● Edge Sizing 4
● Face Meshing
8. Click the Generate button, and below the given mesh will be generated.
9. Now give the named selection as shown below.
10. Close the meshing.
11. Open Setup check on Double Precision checkbox and choose no. of cores as
your system has offered to, and Start.
12. As Setup opens, Turn ON energy equation, set viscous model to laminar.
13. Change the default material air to liquid water, and change it from cell zone
as well.
14. In boundary conditions, Inlet, give 5 m/s of speed to water.
15. Now Initialize the solution with standard initialization from inlet
16. Now run the calculations and give 1000 iterations, and solutions will
converge in a few steps only.
17. Velocity Contour of our solution.
18. Velocity streamline can be represented as below.
Result
This is how the fluid behaves when a sudden increase in cross section occurs, as we
can see the swirls are formed by the step down geometry we designed.

converge in a few steps only.
Result
This is how a Convergent-Divergent Nozzle works, it shows that flow at the Inlet is
Subsonic and as it enters the convergent section flow accelerates and near throat it
reaches Sonic speed and in divergent section, flow accelerates and became
Supersonic.
