METHODS

(Research Design) The evaluative–quantitative method of research was used in this

study. Campugan (2014) pointed out that the quantitative method of research is a data-based

study with adequate and accurate interpretation of the findings. It describes with emphasis what

actually exist such as current condition, practices, situations, or any phenomena.

(Locale of the Study) The research was conducted at Siena College of Taytay during

School Year 2021-2022. It is located at E. Rodriguez Ave., Brgy. San Isidro Taytay, Rizal. Siena

College of Taytay is a Dominican Institution founded in 1957 by the Dominican Sisters of St.

Catherine of Siena. The school has an Integrated Basic Education Department that was

accredited by PAASCU and a College Department.

(Sampling Technique) Two different sampling techniques were used in this study. One is

the purposive sampling for the teacher-respondents and the simple random sampling–lottery

method technique for the student-respondents. (Define the sampling technique used with

(Participants of the Study) The first group of respondents of the study were the fifty (50)

Grade 12 students enrolled during School Year 2020-2021 at Siena College of Taytay, in the

municipality of Taytay, province of Rizal.

The second group of respondents were the six (6) teachers of Practical Research 2 in

Grade 12 from the same afore-mentioned educational institution.

(Research Instrument) The instrument used to obtain data required was a questionnaire.

The research instrument refers to the tools that facilitate the gathering of information and data

that support a study.

This instrument was selected due to its relatively faster collection of results as compared

with other techniques. The questionnaire consisted of 2 parts: (1) Demographic Profile of the

Respondents and (2) The Evaluation in the… (what is being evaluated)

The questionnaire is very simple, brief, and clear to avoid confusion and interpretation of

the respondents. To reinforce the validity and suitability of the instrument to this field of study,

the opinion and expertise of experienced practitioners and educators were sought. Books and

similar studies also served as guides in constructing the questionnaire.

(Data Gathering Procedure) Before floating the questionnaire to the specified

respondents, it was pilot-tested to some friends. Comments and suggestions from them were

considered in the improvement of the questionnaire. Hence, the initial draft of the questionnaire

was counter-checked by the adviser and revisions were made with the approval of the panelists.

The researchers, however, was aware that the questionnaire as a tool for investigation has

inherent limitations. The value of the findings largely depends on the sincerity, truthfulness, and

objectivity of the respondents. It cannot totally be unbiased.

(Statistical Treatment) To analyze and interpret the data gathered, descriptive statistics

such as weighted mean, frequency, percentage, rank distribution and verbal interpretation was

utilized for numerical analysis and for comparing magnitude.

Weighted Mean will enable us to calculate an average that takes into account the

importance of each value to the overall total (Levin, 1998 as cited by Aquino, 2011).

Independent Sample t-Test was also used for problem number three (3), to determine the

significant difference between the assessments of the three groups of respondents as reflected

between their mean scores. (Levin, 1998 as cited by Aquino, 2011).

(Ethical Considerations) This study considered the following ethics: (1) Honesty and

Integrity. All the data gathered and used will not extrapolate to mislead anyone that will utilize

this study for future reference, (2) Objectivity. This study avoids bias in any aspect, such as

design, data analysis, interpretation, and peer review. The researchers disclose any personal or

financial interest that may affect the study, (3) Respect for Intellectual Property. This study did

not plagiarize. Proper citation of all literature and studies was observed by the researchers, and

(4) Confidentiality and Human Subjects Protection. The respondents of the study were given the

utmost privacy of their personal information. This study did not violate but rather respect the

respondent's rights including the right to privacy and autonomy. Parents’ consent was asked

through a letter informing that their child was chosen to be a part of the study.

Table 6 above presents the computed over-all weighted mean on the assessment of the

two groups of respondents in the utilization of instructional module with respect to all variables.

As depicted from Table 6, with respect to all variables, as assessed by the student-

respondents, the over-all weighted mean obtained was 4.58 interpreted as “Highly Evident”. As

assessed by the teacher-respondents, the over-all weighted mean obtained was 4.54 verbally

interpreted as “Highly Evident”.

It could be deduced from the results that the instructional module, as assessed by the two

groups of respondents, is an effective instructional material in the teaching of Visual Graphic

Arts using Photoshop in the field of Technology and Livelihood Education – Information and

Communication Technology (TLE-ICT).
