Iceworm Papercraft - Subnautica Below Zero

If you have played Subnautica Below Zero then you know how scary this Iceworm can be! If you don't then you can see
him at the end of the embedded video. Now you can make your own scary little iceworm from paper. I ripped the 3D
model from the game and simpli ed it to make it suitable for papercraft. That was quite time consuming, but you don't
have to do this. I also modeled a low poly iceberg that ts around the iceworm so it can stand and has a nice transition
like it's coming from below the desk. This model was di cult to build and took a long time as the ns and teeth are tiny,
hard to handle and there are quite a lot of them.

You will need Pepakura to open these les. With this software you can also make your model as big or small as you

Step 1: Overview of Steps

1. Print out the templates.

2. Cut out the parts and use a black marker to hide white edges of the paper. Only use it at dark parts!
3. Fold and glue the parts together. You can see which part connects to which ap in Pepakura. You can fold
using a ruler, a scissor or slightly go over it with your cutting knife.

If you have a Silhouette Cameo, you can use that to cut the templates by making use of the Cameo plugin for Pepakura.

Step 2: Print

Print out the templates (link in the introduction) with a printer (duh!) in Pepakura.
If you are using a cutting machine like the Silhouette Cameo you can use Pepakura viewer for Silhouette Cameo to add
registration marks.
In the photo I already put my template on a cutting mat for the Silhouette Cameo.

Step 3: Cut

Now cut out the parts either by hand using an X-acto cutting knife or use a cutting machine.
I cut out the teeth by hand as they were too tiny for my cutting machine/stickiness of my mat.

Step 4: Fold & Glue

Now it's time to fold and glue the parts together! You can also use a (black) marker to make the seams and edges less
obvious. I recommend that you start with the mouth as that is a complex part which is hard to do at a later stage. After
nishing the mouth, continue with the head and the snout. Then make your way towards the bottom in rings, piece by
piece. The ns are a little ddly and tiny as you can see in the pictures.

Step 5: Progress

Step 6: Make the Iceberg

Now you can make the iceberg stand. It's the same principle of glueing the pieces together.
When it's nished the iceworm can be glued in the iceberg and it can stand!

Step 7: Adding Teeth

We now need to add some menacing teeth to complete the iceworm!

Step 8: Finish

And here is the completed project! The iceworm measures 29 cm in height and will look awesome next to you on your
desk ;)!

So many compound curves! Good work. Must have been difficult to assemble since you have to
be careful of denting the structure as you progress.
