FOREWORD

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized by the Wood and
1$ Other Lignocellulosic Products Sectional Committee had been approved by the Civil Engineering Division Council.

Prelaminated cement bonded particle board is a cement bonded particle board laminated on both surfaces by
synthetic resin impregnated base paper under the influence of heat andlor pressure or with finished foils under
the influence of pressure or pressure and heat depending upon the type of binder. As the prelaminated cement
bonded particle boards are being manufactured and used extensively, the need for this standard was felt for
guiding the manufacturers and the users.

This standard classifies prelaminated cement bonded particle boards into three types depending upon the abrasion
resistance of the prelaminated surface. Type I board is useful for horizontal applications like flooring, cash
counters, restaurant table tops, etc. Type II board is useful for normal horizontal applications like office table
tops, domestic furniture tops, etc. Type III board is useful for vertical applications like panelling, partitioning and
for false ceilings,

For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value,
obsfxved or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off in accordance with
KS2:1960 ‘Rules f~r r~uml]ng off numerical vahtes (reviwd)’. The number of ~ignificattt places retained in the
rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
