1 OUR ROUTINE:
-  Write the date and say it with them (use complete format Monday, February 13th, 2023) Use the

-   Use and ABC poster to say the ABC (complete or part) and spell the day of the week out
loud.
-   Write the agenda of the day. So, they know what is going to happen during the English class.
2 Daily Routine
TH draws or displays three boxes on the board labeled morning, afternoon, and night. SS
brainstorm activities that take place at each time of day and write or draw them in the correct
category. SS can make complete sentences about the activities they listed.
3 Pre-Activity
T asks SS to recall the story from page 21 without looking back using WH questions (who,
what, where, when, why). SS work together to retell the story in small groups. SS read the
story again in their groups, or T reads the story to the class if necessary.
4 Activity
T explains the directions on page 25. SS can reread the story together to complete the activity
on page 25.
5 Post-Activity
SS check their answers from page 25.
6 Cool Down SS get in a circle. One S names a person, the next names a place, and then the third
an action. The fourth person in the circle puts the three together to make a silly sentence.
Repeat around the circle.

2 Daily Routine
TH chooses a volunteer and describes what they are wearing in simple terms (i.e., He is
wearing a red shirt. She is wearing blue shoes.) with a focus on colors. Then, SS get in groups
of three and describe each other's clothes. SS create sentences using 'am' and 'is' and the
description. TH reviews colors of things in the classroom.
3 SS sing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" to review body parts. SS brainstorm other body
part words they know. SS draw a picture of a person and label all the body parts they can.
4 Activity T plays Track 8 and SS point to the correct words and draw a line to the body part
they say, then write the words in the blanks. T reviews the words forward, back, left, right,
walk, and stop with SS by calling out a word and having SS follow the directions.
5 Post-Activity SS complete the Confidence Builder activity.

6 Cold Down SS share whether they preferred giving or following directions in the Confidence
Builder activity and why.

2 Daily Routine
SS make two circles, one inner circle facing out and another outer circle facing in. SS sing the
alphabet song and each circle walks in opposite directions. TH yells 'stop' at any point and SS
must stop, shake hands and greet the person in front of them by introducing themselves and
asking, "How are you?" Repeat multiple times.
3 Pre-Activity
T displays a few comic strips and reads them to SS. T explains how the comic strips use
dialogue to tell a story. SS read the speech bubbles from the comic strips.
4 Activity
SS complete the activity on page 28.
5 Post-Activity
SS leave their books open to page 28 on their desk and walk around and read each other's
cartoons.
6 Cool Down
SS share two things they saw in their classmates' morning routines that were different than
what they drew in their cartoon.

2 Daily Routine
SS work in small groups. TH gives each group a newspaper. SS write down three headlines
they think sound interesting and draw a picture to go with the headline. Each group can share
one headline and one drawing with the class.
3 Pre-Activity
T reads the poem from page 29 multiple times. SS read along. T plays the Track and SS try to
say the poem as they follow the directions.
4 Activity
T plays Track 9. SS point to the words they hear. T pauses track and SS act out each of the
words. SS complete the word scramble activity on page 29.
5 Post-Activity Complete the Teamwork activity.

6 Cool Down Play Simon Says following the Bonus Activity on page 29.
SS rate the story they heard today by holding up 1-5 fingers. T calls on SS to share why they
rated the song the way they did.

2 Daily Routine
T models asking and answering some introduction questions: What is your name? How are
you? How old are you? What grade are you in? SS repeat the questions along with the T and
practice their answers. Then SS find three people to practice introductions with. They must
shake hands and ask and answer at least three questions.
3 Pre-Activity
T tells SS today they will create an "All About Me" presentation. The presentation will include
an introduction (they can use page 19 as a guide or include other relevant information about
themselves), drawings and information about their family, and drawings and information
about their favorite things.
4 Activity
SS create their presentation.
5 Post-Activity
SS present their "All About Me" project to the class. If there is not time for presentations, SS
can leave their project out and do a gallery walk around the room to view each other's projects.

6 Cool Down
SS share what they enjoyed about today's project and what they found challenging.

2 Daily Routine
SS look out the window and make observations your body brainstorm activities they can do
when the weather is how it is today and things they cannot do. TH suggests another weather
condition and SS brainstorm what they can and cannot do in that condition. SS can also
discuss what they can wear in each condition.
3 Pre-Activity
Sing a song Head shoulder knees and toes
4 Activity
T asks SS what they do with different parts of the body
5 Post-Activity
SS draw a picture of five senses and identify them
6 Cool Down SS share their drawings from the post-activity.
- SS use their body to demonstrate in, on, under when T calls out a sentence such as "My five
senses" "My food is under the desk." SS can also make similar sentences for the class to

2 Daily Routine
TH introduces the words "trust" and "honesty." TH uses paper cups to build a pyramid and
explains that we build trust by being honest, much like building a pyramid. But when we are
dishonest, we can break down the whole tower. Demonstrate this by pulling out a cup from the
bottom row and letting the pyramid fall. SS can share their thoughts on trust and honesty and
share any stories about a time someone was dishonest and what happened.
3 Pre-Activity
T reviews question marks, periods, and exclamation points. T writes the three punctuation
marks on the board, points to one and asks SS to make a sentence using it with the appropriate
voice. SS complete page 34 independently.
4 Activity
- T reads the content on page 35. SS complete the work on their own.

5 Post-Activity SS share their drawings from page 35.

6 Cool Down
SS are going to play using mimics
