BEDROOM - DAY

The scene opens on a teenage boy, JASON, lying on his bed scrolling through his phone. His best friend,
TYLER, enters the room.

TYLER

(knocking on the door) Hey man, you up for some video games?

JASON

(sitting up) Yeah, sure. Come on in.

TYLER walks over to the TV and sets up the game console, while Jason pulls out his own controller.

JASON

(excitedly) I've been practicing since the last time we played. You're going down, man.

TYLER

(smiling) We'll see about that.

They start playing the game, both getting into it and trash talking each other as they go. After a while,
TYLER starts to pull ahead, and Jason gets frustrated.

JASON

(groans) Come on, how are you so good at this?

TYLER

(laughs) You just need to focus, man.

JASON

(rolls his eyes) Easier said than done.

They keep playing, but Jason can't seem to catch up. Finally, TYELR pauses the game and turns to him.

TYLER

(sincerely) Hey, you okay?

JASON

(shrugs) I don't know, man. I just feel like I can't do anything right lately.

TYLER
(puts a hand on his shoulder) Hey, that's not true. You're a really good friend and you're always there for
me.

JASON

(smiling) Thanks, man. I just feel like I'm not living up to my own expectations, you know?

TYLER

(nodding) I get it. But you're only human, dude. Everyone has off days.

JASON

(sighs) Yeah, I know. I just wish I could figure out how to get out of this funk.

TYLER

(thoughtfully) Well, have you tried doing something different? Maybe mix up your routine a bit.

JASON

(raises an eyebrow) Like what?

TYLER

(smiling) I don't know, man. Maybe try a new hobby or go on a road trip or something. Shake things up.

JASON

(considering it) Yeah, maybe you're right.

They sit in silence for a moment, then Tyler turns back to the TV.

TYLER

(smiling) But for now, let's finish this game.

JASON

(laughs) You're on.

They resume playing, but this time Jason is more focused and starts to catch up. They continue playing
and laughing, enjoying the moment and the bond of their friendship.
