INT. CAR/ STREET/ NIGHT/ WINTER 1984 / OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE

80's synth music plays.

The sound of someone getting into a car can be heard.

We see the door shut from the rear of the car. We catch a
glimpse of the driver.

a Green Brothers film

We see the driver placing something into the glove-box and

shuts it. He sits there for a moment staring at it.

Written & Directed by Ryan Green

POV of the driver looking into the rear-view mirror. A

cassette tape hangs by a string. It reads 'Dan and Jess's
love mix'

We see the key being pushed into the ignition and turned as
the engine fires up.

We see smoke coming from the exhaust as the car is being

revved. The car pulls off at speed.

The car speeds down a wet country back road.

EXT. CAR/ STREET/ NIGHT

The car pulls up outside a house. The driver switches off the
engine.

EXT. CAR/ STREET/ NIGHT

DANIEL 25, Wearing a Red polar neck jumper, with stone washed
jeans, white socks and black boots, leans up against the
drivers side door. He has a nose piercing and light blonde
streaks in his hair. He wears a pair of earphones around his
neck and a watch on his left wrist.

Daniel waits patiently. He hears the sound of someone coming

out the house and down the drive. He stands up from the car,
as he does the person walks straight past him and gets in.
Not a word is said. Daniel takes a deep breath then gets into
the car. He sits down and closes the door.

INT. CAR/ STREET/ NIGHT/

With long brown hair trailing down her shoulders, JESS 23,
sits in the passenger seat. She's wearing a denim jacket with
a white t-shirt underneath, red trousers and white trainers.
She has one long earring in her right ear.

She sits silently as she stares out the window.

Daniel looks over at Jess from the corner of his eye. There's
an uncomfortable tension in the car. Daniel takes out a
cassette tape and puts in the stereo and presses play. Jess
starts to play with her hair as Dan puts the car into gear
and pulls off.

CUT TO BLACK - MOVIE TITLE

L-OOP

INT. CAR/ NIGHT/ LOCAL BEAUTY SPOT

The car pulls in slowly and rolls to a stop. Daniel cuts off
the engine and turns down the radio. Jess stares out of her
window as they both sit in silence. Daniel bows his head in
search of something to say to break the tension.

(Gently)

DANIEL
How are your assignments going? Are-

Before Daniel could say another word, Jess smirks at his poor
attempt of conversation. She looks at him in overwhelming
disbelief.

JESS
How is my assignment going? (Beat) Are
you fucking kidding me!

Daniel sinks back a little in his seat, now recognising a

stupid comment like that would ultimately evoke this
reaction.

DANIEL
I just wanted-

JESS
You're an absolute Dickhead Dan you
know that.

Jess shakes her head and laughs under her breath.

Another moment of silence creeps in as Jess stares out the

window. Daniel battles with what to say next. The mix-tape
that hangs from his mirror catches his eye. A reminder of how
different things were not so long ago.

DANIEL
I'm sorry Jess.

Jess turns to Daniel again in disbelief. Rife with Anger.

JESS
You're sorry? What are you sorry for
Dan. ay?

Daniel sighs in frustration.

JESS (CONT'D)
Sorry that you keep avoiding me?
Sorry that there's something clearly
going on with you and you choose to
simply cut me off? I feel like I'm on
my own Dan!

There's so much Daniel needs to say to Jess but can't find

the right way to explain.

DANIEL
Jess-

JESS
You disappeared on me at Liz's party
last week and I looked like a right
idiot. Do you know how embarrassing it
was having to make shit up, telling
everyone that you had to go because
you didn't feel well.

Daniel nods in agreement. Sorrow heavy on his shoulders.

JESS
You don't even have the decency to
pick up the phone to tell me you're
okay. (Beat) What kind of man does
that.
 4.

Tears begin to gather in Jess's eyes as she begins to play

with her hair. Daniel knows everything she's saying is true.

(Looking away from Daniel)

JESS
I love you Dan.

She struggles to get the words out as she begins to fight

back tears.

(Breathlessly)

JESS
I love you. (Beat) Can't you see that?

DANIEL
I see it Jess. (Beat) You have no idea
how much I see it.

JESS
That's my point (Beat) I don't. I
thought I did.

Daniel leans towards Jess and takes hold of her hand. Jess
wipes a tear from her eye just before it falls.

DANIEL
Jess I understand what I've put you
through. Hurting you was not something
I never wanted.

Jess takes in a breath to compose herself. She focuses on

Daniels hands wrapped around hers.

DANIEL
There is so much I want to tell you.

The weight of what Daniel knows, but cant say, is building

and it shows.

DANIEL
You're the most important thing to me
in this world.

JESS
Then show it. Tell me whats going on.
(Beat) Please.

Daniel sighs deeply.

He sits back into his seat and stares out the window
expressionless.

DANIEL
I don't even know where to start.

Jess reaches over and places her hand on the back of Daniels
neck. She sees he is trying to tell her something.

(softly)

JESS
Just be honest with me.

Daniel looks at Jess. Their eyes lock on one and other. He

gently nods as he realises he can't keep hurting her, he
needs to tell her the truth. She pulls him in closer, her
face touching his. They share a moment.

(whispering)

JESS
What's happening with us.

He moves some of her hair from her face behind her ear as her
looks at her. Jess pulls him closer and kisses him.

JESS
Talk to me.

Daniel takes a deep breath and sits back. As he does he looks

towards the glove-box. Jess looks at him confused. Daniels
eyes are fixed on the glove-box.

DANIEL
Open it.

Jess looks down at the Glove-box then back at Dan.

JESS
What?

DANIEL
In there, (Beat) Open it.

Jess hesitates before reaching forward to open it. Inside

sits a leather bond wallet of some sort. No larger than a
average sized book. Daniels breathing slightly elevates. She
reaches in and takes it out. Jess frowns confusingly at what
she's holding.

JESS
What is it? (Beat) I don't understand.

DANIEL
Look inside.

JESS
How is this-

DANIEL
Please Jess (Beat) I'm trying to
explain to you what's going on.

JESS
What with this!

Dan gets frustrated and uncomfortable.

DANIEL
YES! Jess. Please.

(Registering Daniels frustration)

JESS
Okay.

Jess shuts the door to the Glove-box and places the leather
wallet on her lap. She runs her fingers over the casing and
starts to undo the buckle that's fastened. Daniel stares
intensely as Jess opens it.

Jess is even more confused than before. Daniel takes a huge

breath. In her hands she holds a rectangle looking object.
Thin in thickness, made from metal and glass. A small light
in the corner flashes on and off, with what seems like
buttons around the edges.

Jess examines it, front and back. She doesn't understand what
she's holding.

JESS
What the hell am I looking at Dan?

DANIEL
Run your finger across it

JESS
What?

DANIEL
Run your finger over the glass.

Jess is confused.

JESS
I don't get what you're tryin-
 7.

Daniel cuts her off

DANIEL
Jesus Jess. Just do it! I'm trying to
show you!

(Angrily)

JESS
why are you talking to me-

DANIEL
I need you to see for yourself.
Please.

JESS
Okay!!

As the word leaves her mouth Jess swipes her finger across
the glass. A strange sound comes from the device as it
suddenly lights up.

(confused)

JESS
What the fuck is-

Daniel sits up in his seat and leans in closer to Jess.

DANIEL
There are so many things I need to
tell you.

There are an array of images on the screen. The image on top

is a picture of the twin towers, only this image shows one of
the towers on fire.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
I've just been too afraid too.

Jess looks at Daniel with a blank and confused look across

her face.

JESS
Dan what is this?

DANIEL
Run your finger across it again.

Hesitantly Jess does what Daniel asks. As she swipes her

finger across another image appears. A News article on the
death of princess Diana.

JESS
How is this possible.

DANIEL
You don't realise how important you
are to everything Jess.

Jess is fixated on the device. As she continues to swipe her

finger across the screen different images appear. Each image
seems to show a significant point in history. That hasn't
happened yet.

JESS
I don't understand what I'm seeing.

DANIEL
I know. So many things are about to
happen - have happened. You need to
listen to me carefully. You have to
trust me Jess.

Daniel turns Jess's face towards him.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
Listen to me (Beat) I'm back now, I'm
not going anywhere okay. I

Realisation washes over Daniel.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
I Have to protect you.

JESS
Protect me?

Daniel struggles to use the right words.

DANIEL
You have the ability to change
everything.

All of a sudden Daniels expression changes as he sits back in

his chair. Realisation sinks in.

JESS
What? what ability? And protect me
from what Dan, What are you on about?

(softly)

DANIEL
I can't.

JESS
Cant? You need to tell me what the
fuck is going on. You're making no
sense at all!

DANIEL
Your work - your assignments,
everything. Its leading to something
bigger than all of us.

JESS
Is this some sort of Joke?.

Daniel realises he's saying too much. She can't possibly

understand.

DANIEL
This is not how I wanted you to find
out.

Jess loses her temper

JESS
WHAT DAN??

Daniel looks at Jess lost.

DANIEL
I've said too much Jess.

JESS
Too much? I don't know what the fuck
you are talking about!

Daniel jumps up in his chair frustrated.

DANIEL
I've made a mistake okay!

JESS
You've made a mistake?

DANIEL
Yes!!!! I may have fucked all this up.
I shouldn't have said anything to you
Jess. You have no idea what's goin on!

Anger and frustration washes over Jess

JESS
No I don't! You know what Dan. I don't
know who the fuck you are anymore. Or
what you're trying to do to us. Time
after time you mess me about. You
treat me like I'm an idiot-

DANIEL
Jess-

JESS
You come at me with this stupid shit
and expect me to - what?, take that as
some sort of apology or explanation to
how poorly you've treated me.

DANIEL
That's not -

JESS
And this!

Jess throws the device back into the glove-box and slams it
shut.

JESS
How stupid was I to think that you
were ever capable of loving me.

Jess angrily pushes open the door and gets out.

(broken)

DANIEL
I do.

She slams the door behind her. Daniel sits as he watches Jess
move to the front of the car. She leans back onto the bonnet
and takes out a packet of cigarettes from her jacket pocket.
She pulls one out and lights it. With a huge sigh she blows
out a cloud of smoke.

Daniels mind is racing. He feels lost and helpless. He

reaches into his pocket and pulls out a small metal box. He
sits there for a moment toying with it in his hand, then
opens it. He's breathing gets faster as he looks at what's
inside. He slams it shut. Daniel looks out at Jess as she
clutches herself tightly as the cold night air dances around
her. He places the box back in his pocket.

Daniel Opens his car door and gets out. He slowly makes his
way round to the front and sits up alongside Jess. He takes
in the environment around him. Jess continues to clutch
herself while taking another drag of her cigarette.

Daniel looks down at the packet of cigarettes beside Jess and

take one out. He doesn't have a light.

DANIEL
Can I have a light please.

Jess doesn't acknowledge him.

DANIEL
Jess, Can -

Without looking at him Jess holds out her hand passing Daniel
a lighter.

DANIEL
Thank you.

Daniel lights his cigarette and places the lighter on the

hood of the car. They both sit there as the ambient sound of
the night softly rings out.

DANIEL
Jess-

JESS
What was that in there ?

Daniel hovers on Jess's question.

DANIEL
(Beat) The future.

JESS
What?

DANIEL
It sounds so ridiculous when I say it
out loud. I hear it. But it's the
truth Jess. Something huge is
happening, and no matter what I do or
how we try change it, It continues to
play out the same way.

JESS
Do you really expect me to believe
that?
 12.

(Light heartedly)

DANIEL
No. Not at all. I don't think I even
believe it.

JESS
What were those pictures?

DANIEL
Things that have already happened.
Things that are about to happen.

Jess takes one last slow drag on her cigarette and throws in
to the ground.

JESS
And you really believe all this.

Daniel takes a big long drag on his cigarette. He stares

straight ahead without expression.

DANIEL
I've seen it Jess.

He breaks out of his stare and looks at Jess as the memories

plays over in his mind.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
You're key to it all. You're the
beginning (Beat) and the end.
Everything you're working towards. The
assignments. Your study into quantum
field theory. The unlocking of String
theory that leads to the harnessing of
'Source' energy.

Daniel smiles to himself then looks at Jess.

DANIEL
It all begins with you. (Beat) You
save us Jess.

Daniel takes one last drag of his cigarette and stubs it out.
He moves over to Jess who is digesting what she's just heard.
He stands in front of her and places his head against hers.

DANIEL
I love you so much Jess.

(gently shaking her head)

JESS
I love you too.

Jess gently rubs her nose against Daniels. She softly kisses
him.

JESS
I just want to know what's going on
Dan.

DANIEL
It all sounds absolutely ridiculous, I
get that. But everything I'm telling
you is the truth. You unlock something
so powerful it changes everything.

Jess looks up at Daniel. She can see in his eyes he believes

in what he's saying.

JESS
As much as this sounds like bullshit
Dan, I know you believe in what you're
telling me, I can see it in your eyes.
You just can't expect me too. I mean
you're talking about the future - time
travel for god sake. Do you know how
crazy that sounds. I mean this in a
genuine loving way. Are you okay? Is
everything okay with you (Beat)
mentally I mean?

DANIEL
Jess.

JESS
I'm just saying

DANIEL
All I can do is tell you is the truth.

JESS
Which is?

Daniel leans back against the car. This time right next too
Jess.

DANIEL
When governments around the world
started to dismantle, the leaders of
those countries begin to open up to
the secrets that they'd been hiding
for centuries. Secrets about our
species, Worlds that actually harbour
lintelligent life, technologies that
have been formed - surpassing anything
we were ever told was possible. (Beat)
Time travel.

Jess struggles to accept what Daniel is saying.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
You discovered source Jess. But that
wasn't enough for you, you wanted to
harness it, and you did.
But there was an error in your
experiment and a small amount of its
energy got released.
That's when the 'Uplifting' began.
It dissipated into the atmosphere and
spread around the world instantly.
People stopped killing, lying, hurting
eachother, Crime stopped all together.
People started living longer, the
planet regenerated, Animals that were
on the brink of extinction began to
flourish. The damage we did to the
plant reversed. It was beyond anything
anyone could imagine.

Jess runs her fingers through her hair, unconvinced.

JESS
Come one Dan...

DANIEL (CONT'D)
But there were some that weren't
affected by the energy that got
released. They defaulted back to their
original state.
Greed twined with the notion of
'survival of the fittest' consumed
them. That's when the 'Negatives' were
formed. They could see how the world
had changed and they wanted it for
themselves. With the newly found

knowledge that the government had been

hiding, And with how the world
subsequently changed because of that,
they managed to overthrow and obtain
the facility that housed the ability
to jump time. potentially.

(unconvinced)

JESS
And how the fuck do you know all this
Dan?

DANIEL
A small group of people were put
together called 'HOPES'. They were,
are, the last attempt to stop the
'Negatives' from succeeding.

Daniel begins to feel uncomfortable. He clears his throat.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
Because people now don't have the
ability to cause harm or act in a
forceful way they had to look
elsewhere for help. Time travel was
99% complete, before the 'uplifting'
but when your experiment revealed
source energy could be harnessed they
combined it with what they already
knew and time travel became a reality.
our only hope of survival, was the
potential cause of our extinction.

Daniel begins to cough.

DANIEL
They had to jump back in time -

The coughing begins to get a little worse.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
Select people that were capable of
matching the aggression that the
'negatives' had, but who were
naturally connected to source energy
in a way that was true.

Daniel begins to clench up as the coughing begins to take

hold of him.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
Ahhhhhhh!!!

JESS
Dan, Are you okay?

DANIEL
I was selected Jess (Beat) I'm a
'Hope'.

Daniel starts coughing uncontrollably. Jess starts to get

worried.

JESS
Dan whats happening?

Jess tries to help Daniel up as he bent over coughing.

DANIEL
They're coming Jess.

JESS
Who is?

Daniel manages to stand up.

(In pain)

DANIEL
They're trying to get to me, through
you. I have what they need.

Daniel screams out in pain as he falls back onto the hood of

the car. Jess begins to panic.

JESS
Oh my god! Dan whats happening!

Daniel slides to the floor on his knees.

DANIEL
Ahhhhh! You have to take this.
They won't kill you but they will hurt
you.

Daniel pulls out the small metal box from his pocket and
holds it out to Jess.
She takes it.

(Frighted)

JESS
What do I do!
 17.

Jess screams for help.

JESS
HELP!

Daniel tries to push himself up off the floor. Jess tries to

help him. She manages to get him lent up against the hood of
the car. She places her hand on the his neck to help hold his
head up. She feels something on the side of his neck. she
pulls back his polo neck and sees a symbol protruding from
under his skin. A circle with three lines within it. Blue
veins are branching off from it spreading around his neck.

JESS
What the fuck!

A breeze begins to whip up in the air.

DANIEL
Jess. You have to find a safe place to
hide. They think I have it.

Daniel lets out another scream.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
AHHHHHHH! I shouldn't have come back.

(crying)

JESS
Dan I'm scared.

DANIEL
It'll be okay-

Daniel lets out another piercing scream. He curls up in pain.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
It's happening. Jess (Beat) Run!

(hysterically)

JESS
What is Dan? - what do I do!

DANIEL
They're here!

Daniel turns to face Jess. As she looks at him she begins to

shake in fear at what she sees. Daniels eyes are bloodshot.
 18.

Daniel screams.

DANIEL
Ruuuuuuuuuuun!!!!

Jess staggers back in fear. Daniel is now on all fours on the

floor. He begins to scream louder and louder. The headlights
of the car start flashing.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
I'll find you. Hide and don't open the
box. I love you so-

Daniel screams in pain.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
I love you Je-

All of a sudden there's a bright flash of light and Daniel

disappears.

Jess stands alone screaming. She has the small metal box in
her hand. Panicking and frightened she looks around her, She
hears footsteps. They're all around her.

(crying)

JESS
What do I do? Help me!!!

Jess looks into the trees. The sound of footsteps are right
on her. As she turns around, stepping out of the shadows are
men dressed in military gear. They surround her.

JESS
What do you want!

They all begin to move in closer. One of the men runs towards
her. Jess lets out a heart wrenching scream.

JESS
Help!!!!

CUT TO BLACK.
 19.

INT. SECRET INTERROGATION ROOM/ LATER THAT EVENING

A man sits at a table with a black hood over his head. His
hands are tied with rope behind his back. He's dressed in
mercenary gear. Another man, wearing a balaclava stands
behind him keeping guard, he has N.125 written across his
chest. On the other side of the table, beaten and in tears
sits Jess. She has tape across her mouth, her hands also tied
behind her. Another man stands off to the side of her, he
also wears a balaclava and has the N.11 written across his
chest. The tension is thick in the air.

On the table in front of Jess sits a small metal box. The

same box Daniel had given her to keep safe. The box is open
and its contents gone.

The man guarding Jess leans forward and talks straight into
Jess's ear.

N.11
Ann Harper. George Harper. and little
Catherine Harper.

Jess begins to struggle in the chair, tears running down her

face, fear in her eyes.

N.11 (CONT'D)
What a beautiful life they live. Their
futures are so bright. Mr Harper
becomes vice president of the company
he's worked tirelessly for all those
years. Mrs Harper, well she enjoys the
rest of her life dedicated to the
finer things, no need to work now.

The man sat opposite Jess at the table begins to breath

heavily. listening to everything that is being said.

Jess's screams from under the tape that bounds her mouth.

(Whispering into Jess's ear)

N.11 (CONT'D)
Now. Sweet little Catherine, oh how
the possibilities for her are endless.
She has so much ahead of her. An
actress maybe, she does love putting
on those little shows for everyone. Or
maybe a dancer, or even a nurse saving
lives.
 20.

The man opposite Jess begins to loosen the rope around his
wrists, without the knowledge of the guards.

N.11 (CONT'D)
See the thing is Jessica, Their
futures are in your hands, you hold
the power. Do the right thing, Let
them live a FULL life. Tell us where
the stone is and all of this will have
never happened, nothing but a memory.

HOODED MAN
You'll never find it.

Hearing what is said N.11 stands up slowly. Jess stares

straight at the hooded man.

HOODED MAN (CONT'D)

It takes a rare type of intelligence
to be one step ahead of the curve.
Something that she has. You'll never
find it.

N.11 leans forward with both hands on the table next to Jess.

N.11
Oh we can be very persuasive. You will-

Just at that moment the hooded man slips out of the rope that
binds him. He jumps up from the chair and turns and grabs
N.125 throwing the rope around the man's neck. As he does
N.11 grabs a gun from his holster and shoots 2 shots towards
the hooded man. The hooded man blocks the bullets by using
N.125 as a shield. The hooded man pulls N.125's gun from his
holster and fires one shot straight at N.11. The gunshot
rings out. Jess is frozen with fear. The hooded man stands
there, calm. He removes the hood from his face.

Jess begins to breath heavily in shock at what she sees. She

stands up cautious and confused.

Daniel stands before her. She doesn't believe what she is

seeing. He's not the same as he was a few hours ago back at
the car. He has dark brown hair slicked back. He has a small
tattoo sticking out from under his collar, stubble. He seems
to bigger in some way, maybe older. Jess is so confused.
Daniel walks over to Jess. Although she recognises Daniel she
is still frightened.
 21.

(softly)

DANIEL
It's okay. It's okay Jess. It's me.

He removes the tape from her mouth. Jess is hesitant. Daniel

gently holds her hands.

DANIEL (CONT'D)
Don't be afraid.

JESS
Dan? I don't -

DANIEL
You're safe now.

JESS
I don't understand.

DANIEL
It's me.

He takes Jess's hand and places it on his face.

DANIEL
See.

JESS
(Beat) Dan...How can thi-

Jess places her other hand on his face.

DANIEL
yes.

JESS
It's you.

(laughing)

DANIEL
Yes its me.

Jess begins to cry with relief.

JESS
Oh my god Dan.

Jess throws her arms around Daniel. She feels safe. she grabs
him tightly. She places her face against his.

JESS
What happened to you? How is this
possible?

DANIEL
I'll explain everything to you. We
just need to get you to safety okay?

JESS
Okay.

Jess holds Daniels face in her hands. She gently kisses him.
The sound of shouting and running can be heard outside the
room.

DANIEL
I'm going to need you to take this,
stand behind me and point it directly
at the door okay.

Jess nods as Daniel passes her a gun.

(Nervously)

JESS
I don't know-

DANIEL
It's easy. Just point it at the door.

She slowly gets behind Daniel.

The sound of footsteps are getting louder. Jess stands poised

with the gun stretched out in front of her. Daniel stands
braced with his head down. He begins to start breathing
heavily. His hands grip tightly. Jess stood like a statue.
Daniel begins to groan, his breathing getting faster.

JESS
Dan?

DANIEL
It's okay. Stay focused.

Daniel starts to breath really fast. He begins to clench up.

Jess notices the symbol on his neck begin to light up, blue
veins branching from it. The lights begin to flicker in the
room. The footsteps are right outside the door. They begin to
kick the door down. Jess hands begin to shake. A strange
breeze gently flows around the room. Shouting can be heard
over the thumping of the door. Daniel begins to groan louder,
he lifts his head. His eyes are bloodshot. He lets out a huge

roar.

DANIEL
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

The lights continue to flash. There's a massive crashing

sound as the solders suddenly break through the door. A big
flash of light and a gush of wind blows past them as they
gather inside the doorway.

All that remains in the room is two dead bodies and an empty
metal box on the table.

Daniel and Jess have disappeared.
