Module Description

Planning

In the lesson planning course with instructor Mr. Hamdi, we developed the
ability to create useful lesson plans using different tools and methods. We
looked at why it is important to think about things such as student needs,
learning goals, and ways of measuring progress when making a lesson plan.
Through hands-on work and conversations, we gained a better sense of how
to organize a lesson plan to match up with different students' needs and
make learning experiences that are interesting and valuable. By the end of
the course, we had built up the skills and understanding required to put
together well-structured lesson plans that help students learn and achieve.

Management

In the management course with instructor Mr. Biti, we found out that good
teaching is not just about controlling the classroom; it is also about manag-
ing ourselves as teachers. Through talks and exercises, we gained an under-
standing of useful ways to manage time, reflect on our teaching, and take
care of ourselves so that we can do better in the classroom.
We also looked at ways to handle disruptive behavior in the classroom,
arrange seating, and build good relationships with students and a positive
learning environment. We explored activities that can encourage learning
and things a teacher might do accidentally that can get in the way of learn-
ing. In addition, we learned how to respond when disruptive behavior hap-
pens, including ways to calm situations down and work with students to
find constructive solutions.

ELT Knowledge

In the English language teaching theory course with Mr. Hamdi, we looked
at different theories and approaches that help us understand how students
think and learn. Through talks about theories and hands-on work, we
gained a better sense of how language learning happens and how to devel-
op effective language teaching programs.
We examined theories of how people acquire language, such as behavio-
rism, cognitivism, and constructivism, and how they guide language teach-
ing methods. We also explored various language teaching approaches, such
as the communicative method and task-based learning, and how they can
be used to encourage effective language learning.
