Recommending Approval:
The structure is simple. The proponent with the help of language teachers
and class advisers will pair or group upper-grade classes with lower-grade
ones. Ideally, Grade 7 with Grade 9; Grade 8 with Grade 10 and Grade 11
with Grade 12. It’s best to have students work in pairs, but groups of
three are fine as well. Let the reading buddies gather in a place where they
are comfortable at least once a week, of course with the consent of their
parent/guardian. The baseline of this innovation is the average grade of
every student in English subject. The student with a lower grade can be
paired to a student with a higher grade.
C. Objectives This innovation has the following objectives:
1. To lessen the number of struggling readers in Fabrica High School.
2. To achieve a higher reading level with the help of Reading
Buddy.
3. To increase the average rating of English subject from 82.58% in
the previous school year.
4. To create reading buddies through intentional pairing.
D. Expected The benefits are profound. Reading Buddies allows younger readers to see
Outcomes, what being fluent looks like as they have a peer model demonstrating
beneficiaries reading skills; they can also acquire a positive role model with some
and input in intentional pairing. The older students develop social and emotional skills
education like patience and empathy as they work with their littler/younger buddies.
Additionally, for upper grade students who are struggling with grade-level
reading, the opportunity to access easier reading material without stigma
or shame while sharing with a novice/beginner reader can create a
positive experience with an activity that may otherwise be less than
enjoyable. When students are given the freedom to be better, to work for
something bigger than themselves, and to mentor others, they can thrive.
