DepEd tech-voc teaehers traia as assessors

Some 165 tech-voc leachers wh. lhemselves are nationally certified by the Tec:l,llcal
Educalion and Skills Deve:opment Auihority (TESDA) have gone through National
Tralners fraining Ceftificate (NTIC) Level 1 training p.ogram io prepa.e them to
become assesso.s- a role they leed 10 assume as the need arises to help cater to the
increasirg enrolmeni in tech-voc secondary schools naticnwide.

Graduaies ol secondary tech-voc schools have to go through assessment by TESDA-


certified assessors l:'r order for them lo eam a certiiicale ol competency or a National
Certifacalion (Nc) 1 or ll dependi,"rg on their skills proficiency.

who ars l3achlng competency-based curriculum in 26 srsas ri $pecia:ization in arts and
lrades, aticulture and fish3t in collaboralion wilh the National Tech-Voc Fducalional
Training'f rainers Academy {N'|TA)-Tf SDA.

Therefore. an assessor from one :;chool can also be an as:?ssor in cthel schools as
long as he/she is commissioned by TESDA.

DepFd's Strengthened Technical and Vocaiional Education Progra:n {STVEP) equips


high sehool students with TESDA-certifiable skills to prepare them lor the wor:d ol work,
posl-secondary education or enlrepreneurlal oppoduniiies.

"Our goal here is to brlng back the dignlty of blue colla. jobs by producing highly-skilled
worktorcr demanded by the tofi]munity and lhe industry sector," said Luistro.

STVE? is also aligned with ihe goals of the K to 12 Basic Education Reiorm Program
that a,ms 10 produce high school grad[ates who are prepared for employmenl or
college education.

In arts and trades, the 14 areas of spec:alazation oifer€d in ,epEd's 282 tech-voc high
schoois across lhe country aret aulomotive technology, bui:d:ng ctnslruction.
cosmeiolcgy, draft;ng technology, eleclricity, electronics, furniture and cabinet making,
food iechrology, garments, hardwale servicing, nachlne shop, plumbing, refrigeration
and air-.onditioning and welding. ln agricullure, lale areas of specialization are animal
produclior, crop produciion, horticulture a.C food processing. ln Jishery, lhe
speciallzalion includes fish capture, fish culture rnd tish processing.
