0 PURPOSE- To Establish Procedure for operation ,Calibration and maintenance of

Conductivity Meter.
2.0 SCOPE - This Procedure is applicable to Conductivity Meter used in the water Laboratory .
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY- Chemist / Lab Manager /Quality Manager
4.0 PROCEDURE-
 INSTRUMENT OPERATION -
Switch on the instrument by pressing ON /Off key and give warm up for 10
minutes.
 Clean the Conductivity Electrode with distilled water .
 Wipe with dry tissue paper
 Dip the conductivity cell in the solution under test
 Swirl gently and allow the Conductivity meter reading to stabilize and wait
till the display shows READY and Observed the CONDUCTIVITY VALUE
 Dip the temperature probe in the solution under test.
4.1 CALIBRATION PROCEDURE –

. Switch on the instrument by pressing ON/Off key and give warm up for 10minutes
 Conductivity cell may be cleaned by using warm50% detergent solution.
 Take the Potassium Chloride solution 1413 µs/cm
 Platinum plates of the conductivity cell must be completely dipped in
supernatant solution while taking readings
 Press the Calibration key to enter Conductivity calibration .
 Dip the electrode in the standard conductivity solution say
 Swirl gently and allow the meter reading to stabilize and wait till the display shows READY
 Press enter key to conform the calibration .
 Clean the electrode with distilled water and wipe with dry tissue paper .
 The instrument is calibration and ready for sample measurement

4.2 CALIBRATION FREQUENCY –

Calibration frequency – Weekly
Intermediate check - Not Applicable
4.3 MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS –
Clean the pH meter regularly
Check the Electrode regularly
Arrange for preventive , maintenance service within the scheduled time
Before switch on ensure electrical plug is properly fixed
