LAYOUT OF CORRESPONDENCE

Many large firms have made a study of the layout and style of their internal and

external correspondence and have decided that a standard layout should be adopted by all

departments within the firm. There are many advantages from such a step. A standard

layout or house style gives a good image of external correspondence.

It is said that the reading and filing of this mail is easier where the layout and style

are standardized. The adoption of a standard layout does often mean that a change is

needed to the layout and design of the firm’s stationery so that there is some consistency in

the style of printed headings.
