TENSION
Work 17dc and 19 rows to
measure 10 x 10cm/4 x 4in using
4mm hook, or size required to
obtain tension.

MEASUREMENTS
Finished blocks are 12.5 x 12.5cm/
5 x 5in.

SPECIAL STITCHES
Reverse dc (crab stitch) is worked
as for regular dc except instead of
working from right to left, work
from left to right. This creates a
slightly twisted, rounded edge.
Reverse dc: With RS facing,
insert hook into next st to right,
from front to back, yrh, pull
through loop, yrh, draw through
2 lps on hook.
PATTERN NOTES
The pattern uses dc throughout.
The panels are worked in intarsia
crochet using pattern charts,
with each square representing
one stitch.
Read charts from bottom upwards,
odd rows from right to left and
even rows from left to right.

Carry the colour not being used
along WS.
When changing colour, use
new colour for last yrh of
previous stitch.
At the end of each row turn and
work a turning chain.
Make sure you untangle the yarn
as you go.
BASIC PANEL
START Make six for each
block
Using main colour of block and
4mm hook, 20ch.
Row 1: 1dc in second ch from
hook, 18dc, turn – 19dc.
Continue working from chart until
end of Row 21.
Rows 2–21: 1ch, 19dc, turn.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
JOINING sides to form a tube. Do not Fasten off and weave in ends.
Using matching or contrasting fasten off but leave yarn to attach
colours join panels together, bottom panel in same way. FINISHING
using reverse dc (see Special Stuff block, place rattle or bell
Stitches) and 4mm hook. Note: When joining a top or in centre.
Join along two edges in bottom edge to a side you will Attach top panel using two
each colour. need to work two sts into one st at different colours.

Join four panels together along in order to match 19 sts to 21 rows. weave in ends.
