GENERAL PREPARATION
Glue the pattern pages onto card or thick paper and cut out the pattern pieces to make your templates.
Lay the fabric right side down with the grain/pile running down towards you. (Most stretch - sideways.)
Place your templates onto the wrong side of the fabric making sure the arrows point towards you.
Trace the templates with a permanent marker and cut out your pieces. (Be careful not to press too hard or the ink will
smudge and may even show through your material on the right side.)
Cut the CARROT NOSE PIECE from orange fleece. Cut ALL the REST OF THE PIECES from white fleece.

SEWING
* Always sew pieces with right sides together and use a 5mm/¼inch seam unless stated otherwise.

Sew the CARROT-NOSE PIECE to the FACE PIECE from A – B - A. (I use orange thread for the carrot.)
Sew the CARROT-NOSE PIECE closed from A – C then change to white thread!
Fold the fabric right sides together and sew the darts in the FACE PIECE.
Sew the HEAD PIECES to the FACE PIECE from C – D on both sides.
Insert the safety eyes at this stage if you are using them. If you are using beads for your snowman’s eyes you
will sew them on after he is stuffed. Put the head aside to sew the body.
Sew the TUMMY PIECES to the BACK PIECES along the side seam, from E – F.

(It’s easy to get the arms muddled when all the pieces are white, you must take care to do EACH step
right – so tick off each step as you do it and that way you will be right first time! - I also find it easier
to do one side at a time.)
Pin and sew INNER ARM PIECE to the TUMMY PIECE and BACK PIECE from G- H, remember the fabric
must be right sides together!

Next, you will pin the OUTER ARM PIECE in place in 4 steps before you SEW it:
Step 1: Pin the OUTER ARM PIECE to the INNER ARM PIECE, from the star to G, with the fabric right sides
together!
Step 2: Then pin the OUTER ARM PIECE to the INNER ARM PIECE from the star to H.
Step 3: Turn the pieces over and pin the OUTER ARM PIECE to the BACK PIECE from G to the double dots
pattern markings, with fabric right sides together.
Step 4: Pin the OUTER ARM PIECE to the TUMMY PIECE from H to the single dot pattern marking, with fabric
right sides together!

Now the OUTER ARM PIECE is ready to SEW in position. Sew the OUTER ARM PIECE in place from the
double dots, around past the star to the single dot pattern marking. Perfect, now repeat for the other side!
Fold and sew the dart in the top of each OUTER ARM PIECE.
Sew the TUMMY PIECES together from J - K.
Sew the BACK PIECES together from L – M.
Sew the TOP FOOT PIECES to the TUMMY PIECE matching the 2 crosses of the pattern markings.
Fold and sew the dart on the TOP FOOT PIECES at N.
Sew the BASE PIECE to the TUMMY and BACK PIECES matching point F and M.
Sew the legs closed at the center by sewing the BASE PIECE to the TUMMY PIECE from L – K- L.
Sew the FOOT PAD PIECES in place matching point N.
Sew the head to the body next. (I find it’s easiest to turn the head right sides out and place it facing into the
body when you pin and sew the neck seam.)
Push the head back out of the body again, then sew your snowman closed from C at the top of the FACE
PIECE to just below the neck seam, so that there is a gap left on the BACK PIECES for turning and stuffing.

ASSEMBLY
Fill the carrot-nose first with toy stuffing, making sure it is nice and firm, then stuff the head nice and firmly too.
Fill the arms and legs with toy stuffing, sew across the top of each leg from the out side, before filling the rest of the body.
Sew on your beads for eyes if you are not using safety eyes, and sew on a mouth using embroidery thread. Use a ladder
stitch to close the opening on Slush’s back.
Tie a piece of Christmas ribbon around his neck for a scarf and make him up a gingerbread friend!

Your Snowman is ready to love!

Glue the gingerbread man pattern piece onto card or thick paper and cut out the pattern piece to make your
template.
Fold you fabric with right side together and with the grain/pile running down towards you. (Most stretch -
sideways.)
Place your template on the wrong side of the fabric making sure the arrows point towards you.

SEWING - choose which method is easier for YOU!

SEW ON LINE METHOD – TEMPLATE 1.

Trace the templates with a permanent marker on the sewing line. Do NOT cut out your pieces
Sew on the sewing line, and remember to leave a gap for turning.
Cut a 5mm/¼inch seam allowance around your sewing line.
OR...
SEW WITH A SEAM METHOD – TEMPLATE 2.

It can be difficult to ‘sew on the line with Ginger being so small… so I have included TEMPLTE 2 so you can
cut this out and sew the pieces together with a with a 5mm/¼inch seam if you find it easier.
Remember to leave a gap for turning.

ASSEMBLY
Turn Ginger, right sides out and stuff the head nice and firmly. Fill the arms and legs with toy stuffing before
filling the rest of the body.
Use embroidery thread to sew French knots for the eyes and red embroidery thread to sew on a smile!
Use a ladder stitch to close the opening on Ginger’s back.
Sew on 2 buttons and decorate his arms and legs with silver/gold or red ric rac.
