HAVING A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP WHILE STUDYING

INFORMATION LITERACY PROJECT

MIL TEACHER
Having a Romantic Relationship while studying has advantages and disadvantages to
students. It can also affect their academic performances. The Grade 12 Bellona Group 6
performed a survey in which we ramdonly selected each participant for each strand to
investigate the thoughts of grade 12 students in Mabilao National High School about having
a romantic relationship while studying. With the help of the questionnaires we’ve made.
Moreover, we came to a conclusion that having a romantic relationship have a positive and
negative effect on students’ academic performances. This study will assist us in better
understanding on having a romantic relationship while studying.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of grade 12 students on


having a romantic relationship while studying. Now, what really is romantic relationship? A
romantic relationship is when two people form an intimate connection based on attachment,
interdependence and a sense of their needs being met. Romantic relationship is defined as
mutual, ongoing and voluntary interactions between two partners that is characterized by
specific expressions of affection and intimacy ( Collins, et Al.., 2009). This definition reflects
contemporary ideas about romantic relationships.

A search was conducted in Mabilao National High School, the systematic review of
studies revealed homogeneity in study designs, predominately questionnaires, for studying
the perceptions of Mabilaonians students on having a romantic relationship while studying.
These studies indicated the advantages and disadvantages of having a romantic
relationship while studying and also the affect of it in their academic performances.
HumSS Survey

The majority of HumSS responders are male and between the ages of 17 and 18. Two
out of two students are being inspired and distracted on having a romantic relationship while
studying. Both of them agree that the effects of having a romantic relationship while
studying in academic performances may vary depending on the individual and the nature of
relationship, it can be positive or negative.
ABM Survey

There is only one male and two female ABM respondents between the ages of 17
and 18. Three out of three students are being inspired or motivated and distracted on
having a romantic relationship while studying. All of them agree that a effects of having a
romantic relationship while studying in academic performances are depending on how
Students manage their time, it can be positive or negative.
ICT Survey

The majority of respondents in ICT in MNHS are 2 male and 3 female and between
the ages of 17 and 19. Five out of five students are being inspired and also distracted on
having a romantic relationship while studying. Four out of five students agree that having a
romantic relationship while studying has a positive effect on students’ academic
performances. One out of one argues that having a romantic relationship while studying has
a negative effect on students’ academic performances.
HE Survey

The majority of HE responders are females between the ages of 17 and 18. Six out of
six students are being inspired and also distracted because of having a romantic
relationship while studying. All of them argues that having a romantic relationship while
studying has a negative effects on students’ academic performances.
In conclusion, the main advantage of having a romantic relationship while studying
will make you inspired and motivated to do what you need and want  to do and the main
disadvantage of having on romantic relationship while studying is that you will get distracted
because you're  paying more attention to relationships instead of your studies. 5 out of 16
students assume that having romantic relationship while studying has a positive ang
negative effect on students academic performances depending on the individual and how
they manage their time. 4 of 16 students presume that having a romantic relationship while
studying has a positive effect on students academic performances  because it will make
them inspired to be good  at school. While  7 out of 16 students ague that having a romantic
relationship while studying has a negative effect on students  academic performances
because it will be serves as a disturbance to them.

First and foremost, we must give thanks and gratitude to Almighty God for his
numerous favors that enabled us to successfully complete our information literacy project.
We would like to convey our profound gratitude to Mrs. Rizza C. Claveria, the MIL teacher
adviser at the Center for Media Information Literacy, for giving us the chance to conduct
research and for her essential support. We also owe a huge dept of gratitude to all of the
respondents who provided us with feedback on our questions by responding. Ellaine
Ramos, the leader of the group that is dedicated to her studies, and we are grateful for her.
Overall, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone who took part in our information
literacy project.
