SET A:

The Golden Rice faces a lot of ethical dilemmas. The class will map out the benefits
and risks of costs of Golden Rice, from its production to its use. Determine the ethical
problems and answer the following questions:

1. Will Golden Rice do more good than harm?]


2. Will be good for consumers especially in developing and less-developed
countries?
3. Will it be good for rice farmers?
4. Will it be good for the Philippines? What the risks.

SET B:

Glo Fish is already commercially available but still face opposition from anti-GMO
groups. Research on the biology of Glo Fish. Map out the ethical issues that may arise
from its production to its use by people.

1. Will Glo Fish do more good than harm?


2. Is it safe for the environment?
3. Is it relevant today?

SET B:

Bt Talong is a genetically modified eggplant developed by Filipino scientists. It has


innate insect pest resistance due to the introduction of a gene from bacteria that
releases toxins that are lethal to some insects. Now, it is controversial because of a
legal battle between those who support it and those who are against it.

1. Are you in favor of the production of Bt Talong? Cite particular examples that will
substantiate your opinion.
2. Is it safe for the environment and for human consumption? Why or why not.
