ABSTRACT
Project Millorar is the proposal of The Block Corporation (TBC) which aims to perform major
renovations of outdated school facilities. The 47-year-old infrastructures in the Dasmarinas
Integrated High School are safety deficient and do not meet the requirements set for a functional
and safe learning environment. From the school building inspections facilitated by The BLOCK
Corporation in December 2020, found that the late school buildings now have significant defects
that may affect the safety and functionality of the buildings. Several learning facilities confirms
that there is a need for significant renovation of the buildings. The plan is to improve and rebuild
the school buildings to ensure that students have a safe and conducive learning environment. At
the end of this project, students and teachers can expect to have a better and more modernized
school facility that can cater to their academic needs.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROBLEM/OPPORTUNITY
Opportunity:
The current state of school facilities in many parts of the country is outdated and insufficient to
provide quality education. This issue can impact student performance, learning outcomes, and
access for students with learning incompetencies. We can address these challenges by renovating
existing school facilities or building new ones, resulting in improved access to an affordable
education that prepares children for success into their adult years. Investing in renovations will
yield innumerable dividends by aiding the next generation of global citizens and stimulating
economic growth due to increased employment levels through renovation activities.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Millorar is the word to imply improvement and amelioration in Catalan, a Western Romance
language. Most of the buildings in the Dasmariñas Integrated High School were built way back
from the time of their founding. It has raised concerns for parents of teenagers who are currently
studying in the institution, whether how they should feel about their children's overall safety.
While, with a subtle reformation, those apprehensions were regarded, the structural integrity of the
buildings themselves is left unattended.
A loader is a machine widely used in the construction sector, either for buildings, public works,
roads, highways, tunnels, or any activity that requires moving soil or rocks in large volumes, as
well as loading and managing waste.
A backhoe is a type of excavating equipment, or digger, consisting of a digging bucket on the end
of a two-part articulated arm.
A trencher is a piece of construction equipment used to dig trenches, especially for laying pipes
or electrical cables, for installing drainage, or in preparation for trench warfare.
The scraper does exactly what it sounds like it does—it scrapes the top layers of the ground and
levels out the surface. These machines can either be self-propelled or towed.
A tipper truck is a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) that has a tipper body on its rear.
A dumper truck is primarily used to transport materials to and from a construction site.
A tanker is a motor vehicle designed to carry liquefied loads, dry bulk cargo or gases on roads.
A crane is used to lift or lower objects and move them horizontally. Either way, all cranes are
equipped with pulleys and cables that are useful when it comes to moving objects around. They
are usually temporary structures that are either mounted on a custom-built vehicle or fixed to the
ground.
A compactor is a machine or mechanism used to reduce the size of material such as waste material
or bio-mass through compaction.
A trash compactor is often used by business and public places like hospitals (And in the United
States also by homes) to reduce the volume of trash they produce.
A paver is a piece of construction equipment used to lay asphalt concrete or Portland cement
concrete on roads, bridges, parking lots and other such places.
Bulldozers are a large, motorized machine equipped with a metal blade to the front for pushing
material: soil, sand, snow, rubble, or rock during construction work.
Wheeled loading shovel is a vehicle attached with shovel designed to perform heavy-duty tasks
in earthwork and construction operations.
Construction vehicle refers to any car, truck, tractor, trailer or other vehicle used to perform any
part of a Construction Activity or to transport equipment, supplies or workers to a Construction
Site.
Conveyors move aggregate, bulk rock, and borrow material quickly and efficiently. It takes up
little space, can avoid existing traffic flows, and has less environmental impact.
Hoists are mechanical system that lifts and efficiently moves materials to where they need to go
within construction sites.
Forklifts are powered industrial truck used to lift and move materials over short distances.
Construction equipment are equipment, machinery, structures, scaffolding, materials, tools,
supplies and systems owned, rented or leased by Contractor or its Subcontractors or Sub-
subcontractors for use in accomplishing the Work, but not intended for incorporation into the
Project.|
Material handling equipment is a mechanical equipment used for the movement, storage,
control, and protection of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing,
distribution, consumption, and disposal.
Excavators are heavy construction equipment consisting of a boom, dipper (or stick), bucket and
cab on a rotating platform known as the "house".
Graders are commonly used in the construction and maintenance of dirt and gravel roads for
creating a flat surface where the asphalt will be placed.
Skid loader derives its name “skid” from the ability of the left wheels to turn independently of the
right wheels, allowing it to practically turn in place (skid).
Crawler loaders are an engineering vehicle consisting of a tracked chassis with a loader for
digging and loading material.
Concrete mix ratios are the proportions of concrete components such as cement, sand, aggregates
and water.
Road rollers are a compactor-type engineering vehicle used to compact soil, gravel, concrete, or
asphalt in the construction of roads and foundations.
Trailers are mobile structures (trailers) used to accommodate temporary offices, dining facilities
and storage of building materials during construction projects
Manpower is the number of people working or available for work or service.

COMMERCIALIZATION
The BLOCK Corporation (TBC) is a one-man construction enterprise offering comprehensive
services that allow the company to finish all aspects of the project—Project Millorar. The services
provided include design work, remodelling, modifications, permits, site preparation, carpentry,
cement foundations, painting, and plumbing and utility installation.
The corporation’s top objective is to provide its clients with safe and environmentally sustainable
structures. These infrastructures can now fulfil construction and building design criteria to
standards that were previously left unattended. To attain the company's goals, set for project
Millorar, they recruited a team of exceptionally skilled and experienced individuals dedicated to
providing great workmanship and exceptional client service. The team would take necessary
measures to increase the efficiency of the construction process by conducting thorough research
into energy efficient systems, technology solutions, and construction materials that could be used
to update existing structures while remaining safe and reliable by all relevant codes, as well as
reviewing several data sets from similar past projects across the region and provincial ones that
have successfully implemented.
Given the corporation’s expertise in the industry, the team has partnered with several schools with
similar renovation projects. The corporation's success in these partnerships can be attributed to
their experience and knowledge in the field of engineering and architecture. The BLOCK
Corporation’s expertise allows them to provide effective solutions and guidance to the schools they
have partnered with, including Dasmarinas Integrated High School.

An ocular visit will first be facilitated to assess the school’s current facilities' condition and will
be followed by a consultation with the school administration to identify their specific needs and
priorities for facility improvement. This will enable the team to develop a comprehensive plan that
meets the school's requirements and budget. An engineering report will also be provided. The
engineering report will include recommendations for any necessary repairs or upgrades to the
school's facilities, as well as cost estimates for each project. This will allow the school
administration to make informed decisions about which improvements to prioritize and how to
allocate their resources. The BLOCK Corporation will then oversee the implementation of the
plan, ensuring that all work is completed on time and within budget.

To ensure the flow of the renovation process, TBC, in partnership with The City of Dasmarinas
Local Government Unit, aims to provide seamless coordination between the project team and the
