MOTIVATING
ACTIVITY
INSTRUCTION FOR THE GAME
The teacher will show words that the students
must rearrange to form another word without
adding or ommiting any letter from the base
word and if the student wants to answer they
must shout hooray!!!

VERBALS

VERBALS
Verbals are verbs disguised

as nouns, adjectives, and


adverbs. Verbals come in
three forms: gerunds,
infinitives, and participles.

GERUND
A gerund is a word that is created

with a verb but functions as a noun,


always ending in -ing. Being used as
a noun, a gerund can function as a
subject, a subject complement, a
direct object, an indirect object, or
an object of a preposition.
EXAMPLES:
1.My uncle loves hiking.
2.He was hiking when the
rain fell.
EXAMPLES:
1.Hiking is an adventurous
activity.
2. The chirping birds flew
away.
3. To see is to believe.

PARTICIPLES
Participles are words created from

verbs that are then used as


adjectives to modify nouns in a
sentence. or to put it simply A
participle is a verb form ending in –
ed, en or –ing that is used as an
adjective
EXAMPLES OF PARTICIPLES:

dancing lady
blowing wind
broken windows
boiled bananas
EXAMPLES:

INFINITIVES
Infinitives are singular verbs usually

preceded by the word to. They do not


have any special suffixes; they’re just
simple in nature. In other words, the
verbs are unconjugated. Infinitives
can be used as a noun, an adjective,
or an adverb.
EXAMPLES:
1.Josh wants to study as
soon as he gets home from
school.
2.Today, she wants to show
Josh a new game to play.

get a ½ crosswise yellow
paper and give 10 example
sentences that use gerund,
infinitives and participle.

Tiffany, bored with the usual presents, asked for a pet for her
birthday. Walking a dog of her own had been her dream for a long time.
A poodle puppy wagging its tail in a pet store caught her eye. Hoping for
this pet, Tiffany went to the store every day to look at the beloved pup.
On her birthday, Tiffany and her mom hurried to the store to buy the
poodle. Tiffany named the excited puppy Inglebert, which means
“unusually intelligent.” Playing fetch and teaching Inglebert new tricks
now take up much of Tiffany’s time
