ACCP WEEK REFLECTION PAPER

This year’s accounting week was conducted in both online and face-to-face

setups. During the first day of the seminar, our very own Alexander C. Parrera, CPA

shared his knowledge with all of us.

Mr. Parrera discussed the characteristics or attitudes a CPA or a future CPA

should have. He mentioned there that, one should have the desire, determination,

dedication, and discipline when it comes to accounting. I myself agreed with this. As

someone who is an aspiring CPA, it really is not easy if you yourself don’t much have of

a desire in the course - I myself can attest to that. This desire serves as a foundation of

motivation for someone to continue despite hardships. Alongside this burning desire,

one should also have the determination and dedication to go through the ups and

downs of the course. But aside from the three mentioned earlier, one of the most

important is to have discipline when it comes to studying accounting. Having the

passion to pursue the course is not enough. That is why having proper discipline is

important especially when it comes to studying. Especially in the online setup of

learning, it was harder for us students to focus on our lessons because of a lot of

factors. Another topic that was covered was the Sectors of accounting, which are public

practice, commerce and industry, education or academe, and government. These four

sectors were already discussed in past lectures in our accounting class.

As soon as the seminar ended, this made me realize that accountancy can open

many doors to everyone - job opportunities, and the like. Though the path toward being

an accountant is not easy, at the end of the day, everything will be worth it.
