“How Philippine Airlines plans to survive as its Debt mounts”

1. What are the challenges faced by Philippine Airlines based on the article?

- Since the pandemic started, PAL has experienced bankruptcy. As their debts grew, the airline warned that business
would suffer. According to the newspaper, PAL filed for bankruptcy protection because COVID has continued to
deplete its financial resources.

2. What possible solution/s can you suggest to solve the identified challenges, assuming you are part of PAL’S
management?

- As a member of PAL's management, we will propose a strategy that entails asking investors to invest in our
business in order to survive in the epidemic and keep repairing finances. The airline may be able to obtain funding
and continue operations while restructuring thanks to this. Restructuring the airline may be a more effective
approach to increase profits increase. As it relates to their debt, eliminating their aircraft may also be a solution.
The airline still has a responsibility to prevent flight interruptions while returning aircraft. A different approach to this
problem, if given the chance, is to increase the number of flights, which can boost the airline's cash flow in the
midst of a pandemic. The airline should provide travelers with a way to select and purchase flights by offering them
promotions from which both the airline and the traveler will benefit. This is to maintain operations while enhancing
their health practices.

3. How will you encourage Filipinos to book flights and travel again despite the issues in the airline industry, especially
during a health crisis?

- We will persuade them to book flights and travel once more despite difficulties, particularly during health crises, by
informing or making them aware that the airline industry and airlines have health safety and security for the benefit
of the passengers. The travel industry is facing a never-before-seen challenge as a result of the Covid-19
pandemic. But the visitor or visitors will fly safely. The airline industry will be releasing new initiatives, travel funds,
and product promotions for travelers in addition to sharing industry insights, safety standards, and forecasts.
Additionally, the largest industry in the world has created a wide range of protocols to address the new norm for
businesses like hotels, restaurants, and shops. The traveling experience will be shaped by sanitation, hygienic
practices, protective gear like masks, screening devices like thermal and infrared scanners, and fewer touchpoints
and lines.

4. How can airline companies, such as Philippine Airlines, ensure the safety of their passengers during a flight in the
time of a health crisis (e.g., COVID-19 pandemic)?

- The Philippine Airlines obtained the agreements necessary for a swift exit from bankruptcy protection, paving the
path for an organizational restructure. Before the epidemic, the airline was up against some significant obstacles,
mainly from formidable LCC rivals in both its home and foreign markets. On September 3, 2021, Philippine Airlines
(PAL) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in a U.S. court with court clearance to borrow money for the
airline's restoration and to continue providing high-quality services to customers. They ensure the safety of their
passenger during a flight in time of health crisis because all of their cabin crew wears full personal protective gear
to ensure safety on board, cabin air is clean with hospital grade air filtration system, and you have the option to
book neighbor free seats for extra peace of mind and get most comprehensive and affordable COVID -19 travel
insurance by Allied Bank Insurance. The Philippine Airlines will do their best to give us satisfaction and safe flights
because they care about our safety
