ABSTRACT

Social workers help relieve people's suffering, fight for social justice, and improve
lives and communities. Most people think of social workers when they think of
poverty alleviation and child welfare. Many social workers do that kind of work
and we do much more. Social Services are a range of public services provided by
governmental or private organizations. These public services aim to create more
effective organizations, build stronger communities, and promote equality and
opportunity. The development of skills among rural individuals is regarded as an
important stimulus to alleviate the problems and challenges that they are
experiencing. The major problems that are experienced by rural individuals are
poverty, illiteracy and unemployment. Therefore, the development of skills and
abilities will enable them to participate in various tasks and activities, which would
render a significant contribution in alleviating these problems and leading to
improvements within their overall quality of lives.
I took part in the campaign and conducted an events like “Developing
sustainable water management system”, “To skill rural population” and “Developing
and managing efficient garbage disposal system”.
The above activities which helps the society on getting awareness about the
importance of water by managing it sufficiently getting knowledge on to skill the rural
people so that they also get educated and also how to maintain the garbage wastes by
developing and managing the wastes in a right

Activity program.
I would like to thank Prof. G S Mallikarjuna, Head of the Department, Electronics and
Communication Engineering, and All the Teaching Faculty who have helped and supported
in all aspects to excel in every possible way.
I am grateful to Mr. GopiKishan J, NSS officer, for the permission, guidance and valuable

Activity 1

DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE WATER MANAGEMENT

SYSTEM

Sustainable development is commonly defined by the Brundtland Report as meeting the needs of
the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own
needs. “Needs” include economic, environmental and ecosystem service delivery, and cultural
goals including identity and subjectively defined values. Together, these are commonly referred
to as the sustainability triple bottom line. Sustainable development is the combination of
sustaining the natural environment, resources, and community, and development of the economy
and societal goals.

Definitions of SWM present challenges for adoption because of the widespread use of subjective
language and lack of detail. Most definitions offer only a broad conceptualization of the sectors or
environments to consider. The language in most SWM definitions is usually qualitative and often
normative. For example, sustainability entails “the design of human and industrial systems to
ensure that humankind’s use of natural resources and cycles does not lead to diminished quality
of life due either to losses in future economic opportunities, or to adverse impacts on social
conditions, human health, and the environment”.

Activity 2

TO SKILL RURAL POPULATION

Skills are central to improve employability and livelihood opportunities, reduce poverty,
enhance productivity, and promote environmentally sustainable development. Coordinated
efforts are needed to develop an integrated approach that improves access to relevant, good
quality education and training to all rural women and men.
I visited a government school located in Anamanahalli, Kanakapura. We spent the day
mostly with the students playing , teaching and basically spending time with them which we
enjoyed thoroughly. All the students there were joyful and playful Then later cleaning their
premises under the initiative of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”

Activity 3

DEVELOPING AND MANAGING EFFICIENT GARBAGE

DISPOSALE SYSTEM
Waste management can be simply defined as the collection, transport, recovery, and disposal of waste,
together with monitoring and regulation of the waste management process. However the newer concept
of waste management talks about 7R’s- Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Regulate and
Research.

I had been to a campaign in a local village named Anamanahalli. We have been to multiple places and
explained how it is beneficial with possible waste disposal management and that helps to improve air
and water quality as well as reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
