eLMS Activity: Ohm’s Law

Week 5

Week 5, Session 15

Provide the step-by-step solutions to the following problems. Write your answer on the space
provided.

Given below is a schematic for a simple LED flashlight, as well as the values therein. If the LED
would burn out at currents above 12 milliamperes,

1. What is the entire circuit’s current if the total resistance is zero?

2. How much resistance is needed to keep the LED from burning out?
3. How much power does the LED use?
4. Determine the resistance of the second resistor if the first resistor is four (4) times higher
resistance than it.
