EXERCISE 1: INTRODUCTION TO LABVIEW

Launching LabVIEW
The Getting Started will appear when you launch the LabVIEW. Here, you can create new
project or open existing projects.

Click the Generate and Display


This template VI will generates and displays a signal
A Block Diagram and Front Panel will appear in the screen
(Front panel, left, and Block diagram, right)

The Control Panel


By right clicking, the control panel will appear and this is how it looks like

Running The Program Using CTRL R


Click the Run button or press the <CTRL R> key to run the VI
The VI is running and displaying the output

Press the stop button to stop the VI

Control Palette
When you right click on the front panel, the control palette will appear.
Move the cursor to the numeric control and it will display the numeric control palette

Knob Control in VI
Add the knob to the front panel to the left of the waveform graph. It is used to control the
amplitude of the signal.
Simulate Signal Express VI
It simulates a signal based on the configuration you specify

Properties of Simulate Signal Express VI


It will display the Configure Simulate Signal
Simulate Signal Express VI with a Signal Type of Sawtooth
Changes the signal type from Sine to Sawtooth signal type.
Revealing Hidden Inputs and Outputs
Reveals the hidden input and output by extending the border of the Simulate Signal

Running The Program While Adjusting The Knob


Running the VI
Deleting The Wire Connection Of The Simulate Express Signal And The
Waveform Graph
Modifying the signal by removing the connection wire by selecting and pressing the <Delete>

Showing The Color Ramp Of The Knob


This property allows you to add or to change color band in your palette or meter
control
Changing The Marker Text Color
The marker text color function allows the programmer to change the color
properties of the text/

Extending A Plot Legend


The user can set the plot or allocate the plot in the plot legend and the Labview
will graph the data.
Properties Of The Graph
The appearance tabs in the graph properties allow the user to control the size,
position, label, caption, and the enabled state.

Selecting A New Line Color


Too select a new color for the line or point/fill of the plots.
Selecting New Line Color Of The Sawtooth Formula Result
The user can set the color of sawtooth formula results by changing the color in the
line button.

Changing Name Text Box


By selecting the fill button under the name function the user can change the name
of the text box.

By combining the whole steps in the above the user can reach or achieved the final
output below.
