Pre-task Introduce TEN QUESTIONS 5 mins


topic  If you have some props of some the key of
vocabulary of the unit, place them around the room
before the class starts.
 Write “Is it in / on / under the…?” and “Are they
in / on / under the…? On the board.
 Next, look around the classroom and choose one
object that is easily visible.
 Tell students that collectively they can ask you ten
questions to guess what you are thinking of, but
you will only be able to answer Yes or No.
 Encourage students to start with the question on the
board using the prepositions. However, students
may also use other questions, such as asking about
color, as long as the answer can be yes or no.
 For every question asked, add a mark on the board
to keep a tally of the total number of questions.
 Students can try to guess the object at any time
until they have used all ten question.
 Next, choose two or more object and repeat, this
time encouraging students to use the plural form of
the question.
 Continue with several other objects. Each time the
students guess the object within the ten-question
limit, they win a point. But every time they over the
tien question limit, the teacher gets a point

 Now tell students to write the name of each item in
the chart in part B.

 Tell students to fill in the chart describing the
location of the words they written using in, on, or
under.
 Circulate and monitor the students providing
assistance where necessary. Make sure students are
using it’s or they’re correctly.
 Show the students an example of a completed chart
on the screen.
