Statement of Purpose

Lavudiya Sathish
Factoid: According to research, the world will need to build more than 15,500 housing
structures by 2050 to handle the world's cities' population, which is approaching 8 billion.
Construction management positions will, without a doubt, be among the top employment
possibilities for a long time. I want to make certain that I do not pass up the opportunity to ride
this surge of opportunity and advancement. For starters, my Civil Engineering experience
qualifies me for the Master's program. World countries are constantly in need of infrastructure
upgrades. Civil engineers and construction managers will be in high demand as a result.
Seeing the consistent growth in building projects in my home country – India – and around the
world, I am convinced that a skilled civil engineer like me must ramp up their professional
competencies which is why I am hoping to complete the remaining building blocks of my
academic trend line through the Master’s in Civil Engineering Programme at Lamar
University . As geographic advancements and population growth gain momentum, I must arm
myself with the knowledge that will allow me to sit at the decision-making table of world-class
building undertakings. Motivated by this ambition, I am pursuing admission to the
aforementioned graduate program.

To have a shot at a profitable professional path in the coming years, I feel that studying the
Master's degree would be a meaningful experience that will allow me to help many
communities in India. When I began my undergraduate studies in the Bachelor of Technology
(Civil Engineering) degree at Vaagdevi College Of Engineering, I lay the groundwork for my
future ambition. Following a four-year stay, I began a trail of new information and skill
acquisitions in many areas of the academic subject. My established strong background in
Physics and Mathematics disciplines enabled me to excel in classroom-based learning and
project-based training. Even though I loved both, I was significantly more bent and
enthusiastic in projects. As the experience-driven learner that I am, my mind felt stimulated
and engaged as project work developed in front of my eyes. My most daring hands-on
undertaking occurred in my last year — my final academic venture. Titled “Ground Water
Exploration By Using Electrical Resistivity Meter”, Electrical resistivity method is a part of
geophysical methods which used as preliminary step involve in any ground water exploration.
Previously, I built the “Flush Basin” project wherein our team installed wash basin over water
closet tank to reuse the water for flushing. On the sidelines, I also tended to internship gigs
that let me in on the broader ground-realities of the civil engineering and construction
industries. Speaking of, I interned twice. First, I worked as an intern in 2017 at RWS&S,
Warangal. Thereafter, I was called in to intern, two years later, at PMR Infra Indian Pvt Ltd,
Visakhapatnam. Additionally, I also took part in co-curricular activities that fueled my passion
to deepen my ties with this industry. I participated in “SRUJANA TECH FEST-2018” and
secured second prize for FLUSH BASIN project, completed a course on "ADVANCED
CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY" through NPTEL, IIT Madras. In all, the undergraduate kerfuffle,
combined with the work experiences, taught me that civil engineering requires much more
than simply creating building structures of various shapes and sizes. Several behind-the-
scenes operations need powerful leadership and management abilities. These benefits are only
available through a high-quality Master's programme in Civil Engineering.

As is evident by now, I have left no room for doubt in gaining the most out of my studies and
training thus far. My initiative in my study and development all through the undergrad course
has led me to this key juncture in my academic journey. Studying the Master’s programme in
Civil engineering at Lamar University would allow me to complete a full circle as a student,
ultimately empowering me to have a bright career in India's competitive construction business.
So far, the merger of my academia and industry ventures has resulted in a massive return on
investment. In addition to technical proficiency, I have grown in my abilities as a leader,
manager, team player, communicator, and disciplinarian. I am certain that all of these
qualities will keep me on track in the graduate programme at Lamar University, one of the
greatest academic destinations in the country for engineering courses. I have evaluated the
program's numerous options, and I am delighted to say that they exceed my expectations. In
addition to the practice-oriented study culture that Lamar University is recognized for, I am
particularly interested in learning and developing specialized skills that will enable me to work
successfully on a wide range of projects in the business. In addition to sharpening my
academic and practical knowledge, the Master's programme will provide me with real-life case
studies and workplace situations to help me develop my analytical thinking and problem-
solving abilities – both of which are essential for construction managers.

My coursework and practice in the Master's programme at Lamar University are now
complete. I'm going back to India. The country has great infrastructure development prospects,
and I want to use my foreign educational credentials to contribute to the development of
environmentally responsible building projects in both urban and rural India. These are
massively unexplored areas that require infrastructure development. By directing and
managing building projects that do more than merely better people's lives, I hope to act as a
change agent and innovator. To achieve this level of expertise and confidence, I must pursue a
Master's degree at Lamar University. I'm hoping that my excitement and qualifications will
persuade the Admissions Committee to give me the chance to enter the programme and alter
my life forever.
