SLIDE 1
Identification: Slide showing T.S. of Mammalian Ovary

Reasons for Identification:

• The outer surface is covered by germinal epithelium
• The cortex contains numerous ovarian follicles of
different sizes at different stages of maturation.
• Primordial/ Primary follicle visible
• The (matured) Graafian follicles (containing centrally
placed ovum surrounded by several layers of granular
cells), visible.
• Corpus Luteum visible
SLIDE 2
Identification: Slide showing T.S. of Mammalian Testes

Reasons for Identification:

• Numerous seminiferous tubules are found embedded in
the connective tissue mass. (operative)
• Each seminiferous tubule is lined by germinal epithelium.
• Spermatogonia, primary spermatocytes and
spermatozoa are present in the seminiferous tubules.
• Large, pyramidal sertoli cells are found in-between the
Spermatogonia.
• Leydig’s cells or interstitial cells are found in the
connective tissue lying in-between the seminiferous
tubules.
• Sperms seen in the centre of the tubule
SLIDE 3
Identification: Slide showing T.S. of mammalian blastula

Reasons for Identification:

• The outer layer of cells originating from micromeres
forms the trophoblast or trophoectoderm.
• Embryonal knob (inner cell mass), originating from the
inner macromeres of morula, is visible at one side.
• Fluid filled cavity called blastocoel present.
• The side with the embryonal knob is called embryonic
pole and the side opposite the embryonal knob is called
the abembryonic pole.
