(1) The figure shows a main line for irrigation water distribution. The main line consists
of five pipes connected in series. The available pressure at the beginning of the
system at point (1) is 7.0 bar. The minimum permissible pressure, to be maintained
at end of the system at point (2) is 3.0 bar. The elevation of point (1) is higher than
the elevation of point (2) Z1-Z2=5.0 m. The lengths and outflows from each pipe
segment are illustrated on the figure.
Design the given distribution piping system according to the following methods:
(1) Constant HGL gradient
(2) Least cost
