05 Laboratory Experiment 1
This is where you will submit your laboratory experiment by performing the following:

1. Open the "Lab" section of the simulation.

2. Set the following values before performing the experiment:

1. Gravity constant: Earth (9.8 m/s2)

2. Damping: None
3. Spring constant: Large
4. Mass of the Orange weight: 162 g

3. Determine the value of the "Large" spring constant value. You can use the following
equations in solving this:

1. Spring Kinetic Energy

2. Hooke's Law
3. Spring Potential Energy

To determine the constant value of a “Large” Spring, we use this Hooke’s Equation in
solving.

Hooke’s Law Formula:  = −

We find the constant value of the spring so we use this formula:

K =− F/x .

Given:

g = 9.8m/s²
m = 162g or 0.162kg,
x = 23cm or 0.23m,
F= ?
k=?

Formula to get Force:

F = mg
= (0.162kg)(9.8m/s²) = 1.5876N

Proceed to find the value of Spring Constant:

k =− F/x
= − 1.5876/0.23
= 6.90260869565 or 6.90N/m
4. Provide a screenshot of the setup along with your Laboratory Report.
