Objectives: The students will be able to identify the importance of rules/laws in the community/schools. Materials: Learn Bright Video- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dtuZkposkk Chart Paper for circle map Procedures: Watch the Learn Bright video on the difference between a rule and a law. Afterwards discuss when and where rules and laws would apply. Circle Map Have students tell you what they learned from the video and complete the circle map as a class. Make sure to label both circle maps with the title “rules” and “laws” Allow students time to write their points down on a sticky note. Students will then stick their notes onto the corresponding circle map. As a class discuss the points posted on each side and decide if they are in the correct spot. Evaluation: Students will play a true or false game. I will dedicate the right side of the classroom to be the true side and the left to be the false side. I will ask the following questions and students will stand on the side they believe to be correct. Laws and Rules are the same. T or F Breaking the rules and laws have consequences.
